Using Outlook on my pc - disappearing email on my iPhone

I use Outlook to receive email from att.net on my pc. I purchased an iPhone today and the sales rep. set up my email. I am receiving email on my iPhone, but it seems like once Outlook checks my email and dowloads them from att.net to the Outlook program, they disappear from the iPhone. How can I set it up to sync where I can keep the email on my iPhone until I either delete them on the phone or from my PC?

Thanks!!!

Hi, Possibly this could be the reason. Your iPhone might have been setup with IMAP connection, and Outlook with POP3. In this case, once email is downloaded by Outlook, it will be deleted from the att.net server. So, go to Advanced in your Outlook account configuration and Select the option leave a copy on the server.

Then you will have to delete all the emails individually from your phone too.

Thanks

that is a good suggestion, but what if you are running exchange...I have this problem and because I am running off an exchange server I don't have the option to "keep messages on server" Any suggestions there?

Why do i loose my android email when i open my windows live emai on my computer

If you are using Outlook as you email reader on the laptop, whenever you open Outlook, it goes to the Android email site and downloads the emails. Outlook has a setting that allows you to leave the emails on the website, or it will delete them after downloading them to the Outlook application. Go to Outlook and disable the delete function.

How do I synch outlook 2003 with iphone

You didn't say whether you're trying to sync everything (mail, calendars, contacts) or just some things or one thing (like contacts only). I don't know if you're using an Exchange server or even if you have the info you'll need to sync with an Exchange server.

I have a Windows mobile device (AT&T Tilt) running Outlook 2007 and everything is sync'd. We also started purchasing the iphone for our employees and sync their email, calendar and contacts to their phone.

I could probably give you step-by-step information (based on how I do this for my users at work) if I knew whether you'll use iTunes to do this or Exchange Active Sync and what you want to sync between your phone and outlook. One method (iTunes) will only update your data between Otulook and the phone when you connect it to the computer with Outlook configured on it but, the way we do it at work, they receive email, data, changes, etc in real time.

Try using this link http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/mail/

What you will find here is support topics and instructions for Exchange Active Sync, setting up email accounts, troubleshooting for contact and calendar syncing.

You can also search support on Apple's Web site. Entering the keywords: iphone outlook 2003 will bring up a lot of support info.

You can use iTunes or MobileMe for synchronization. If using iTunes then try this:

You can configure which items are synchronized during a one time set up process. After initial set up, each time you connect the iphone to your computer, the changes made on your computer or device are synchronized.

  1. Connect your iPhone to your computer. iTunes should open automatically.
  2. In iTunes, in the source list, under Devices, click the entry for your iPhone.
  3. Click the Info tab.
  4. Select which items you would like to sync. For example to sync only calendars, under Calendars, you would click Sync calendars from, and then click Outlook.
  5. Do one of the following:
  • To synch all calendars, click All Calendars.
  • To limit the calendars that are synched, click Selected calendars and then click the calendars you want to sync.
6. Click Apply.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for using Fixya and you can let me know how helpful I've been by rating this solution.

Outlook contacts disappear when I sync with my iphone

Make sure that your sync settings are setup for two way sync. You may have them setup to either overwrite the device, or to overwrite Outlook. It may be under the advance settings.

Set up an email acct on iphone

Same problem I had.

You have to talk with your IT guy, or whoever sets up your email accounts. They need to change your mobile preferences to allow your email to be used on a mobile device.

Also, they can give you the correct settings for the incoming and outgoing server mailboxes (almost impossible to find on your own).

Outlook on the exchange server is compatible with iPhones through IMAP.
