Humminbird 561 screen lights up then goes blank

Sounds like main board fault. Check the battery voltage too. If it is less than normal, this kind of fault can occur. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Viewing it in "Mosaic" or "Magazine" will make surf easy. Pull up older posts. Surf the site with patience. Do a search by type in the brand name of your device at its search box and press "Enter".

I get an inacccurate depth reading

All electronics when they age the electrolytic capacitors dry up and need replacing, and you get aging solder joints that increase in resistance... this could be giving you false readings.

The unit loses the signal at higher speeds

The signal loss is due to the transducer not in the water. Suggest remounting the Xducer an inch or 2 lower to be in water when you plane out at full throttle.

My dept finder reads gives me the wrong depth. Is there a way to calibrate this. I doint know the modle off hand. It is the one that gives you two side views and stright dowm. It has the temp. and speed.

If your depth is off because of where your transducer is located, calibration can be done through the menu by adding or subtracting a foot or two.  In your never to be read manual are all the instructions necessary.  If you are off by more than a foot or 2, chances are your transducer is bad.

http://www.humminbird.com/support/ProductManuals.aspx should allow you to download the manual for free and even step you through some troubleshooting.

One thing you might try is restoring the defaults in your unit. One other thing is go into the menu under the sonar tab and adjust your Noise Filter. You may have some type of interference going on. You can call our customer service department and they will trouble shoot it for you. Our number is 800-633-1468.

Joby from Humminbird.

My depth finder loses its depth reading at about

You need to set the transducer lower. When at speed, the hull of the ship raises up out of the water and hence your transducer is probably not deep enough at these times to give a proper reading.
