SOURCE: How to boot the hardisk in ps2 with matrix mod chip?

Well you got half of it correct lol. Here's your problem, you don't have what xbox would refer to as a dashboard. Meaning you don't have the software installed to navigate your Hard Drive. On top of that you don't need a mod chip at all to do what you're doing. Here I posted a forum post on this topic a while ago on my site(i'm error btw it's my post) So if you have any further questions feel free to send me a message on my forums. Yes this is referred to as a Soft Mod. And it's a full tutorial from A to Z with pictures. This page gives you all the software you need and full detail on setting up your memory card to boot your hard drive. The program for that is called HD Advance btw. The only program you shouldn't need that i've included in my tutorial is Cogswap. Since you have a mod chip installed you shouldn't need to do any swapping at all.

Modding is the process of putting a mod chip in the ps2 to read burned games and to hack games. I wouldn't recomend doing it because it is highly illegal.

PS2 won't read Original/Backup CD/DVD

The Purpose behind the guide to you is emulate your exploit disk, instead of using the disk you use, you're storing the exploit files themselves to your memory card ie. you're ps2 menu and HDloader and any other .elf file. Then you're using the PS1 (retail) game to cause a buffer overflow exploit to load the elf files stored on your memory card, once this is done you get that modified PS2 menu. As I said in the first clairication request the swapping stuff doesn't pertain to you becuase you have a mod chip installed. The main purpose for you to use what i posted eariler was to give you your modified .elf PS2 menu back (cuz all of your tools were stored before on your exploit CD wich is a non retail burned copy) this gives you a way to boot up with things that are native to the PS2 (memory card and retail PS1 game) from the .elf PS2 menu you should be able to see better what is going on becuase you can access each disk type contents from that menu and should be able to launch the game (if your laser lense is functioning enough to read retail PS1 games) from the menu itself. Or if you've been using HDloader plop that .elf onto the memory card (explained on my site) and just navigate to that via the .elf PS2 menu and you'll at least be able to load games stored on your hard drive. This is just something you can use till you get your new PS2 chipped out.

Of coarse this is all speculation. If your PS2 can't even read retail PS1 games none of this will even work.

Sry I don't know anyone that does the chipped stations nemore. I'm sure someone on this site still does though.

Got a Japanese Playstation 1... can't interact with it

Two options:

Buy a solderless Mod Chip online to bring it back to life; which would be hard to find being that the PS1 is not mainstream anymore. ( Might get lucky and find one at www.eurasia.nu ) Also heard of people using a boot disc with a 8 GB memory card to Mod the older playstations; don't think that will work for you since it doesn't even load a game.

Another options would be to clean that lense like a Doctor's Office. In the past my lenses have got extremely dirty, so dirty that when I cleaned them with a Q-tip lightly dipped in a cleaning solution the Q-tip was black before I finished.

You should consider getting a newer system like a PS3 or a PS2; they have several PS2 systems at a Pawn Shop or Used Game Store and all the PS1 games play on the PS2.

Wunhip software

The reason why it's not working is because even though you've installed the games to the hard drive you're missing the software to run the HDADVANCE. Read ::.HERE.::

It will show you where to download the software you need and how to set it up to your memory card and how to boot it.

Keeps asking for a format disk when i put in a burnt disks

You need to get a mod chip installed in your ps2, without it the ps2 won't get the boot information it needs........This is the coding that doesn't get transfered when you burn you original.

So the mode chip supplies this information to the Ps2 before the game loads.

That is how I understand it anyway. Hope this helps guy. :)

Down load the ps2 game in hard disk

When you installing PS2 HardDrive with Network adapter you'll need HD Loader Disc (you can find it with a bit of googling) to execute game although elf applications from the harddrive. but if the laser lens of your ps2 can't reading a disc you will need installing a modchips such as infinity. Modchip like this will launching BOOT.elf on memory card during boot of PS2. see here http://e-arena.blogspot.com/2007/04/boot-up-ps2-hdd-via-memory-card.html
for giude. hopefully this helps.

Ps2

You have to disable the region lock by installing a so called "mod chip". This is a microprocessor (PIC Micro) that is wired inside the PS" or othe game consoles. There should be stores in your place that offer this service. Here is are sample of mode chips: http://www.mod-chip.com/ You can also google for sites that give instructions on how to install the chip and where to buy it.
