Leave the fuse blown and find an outlet that is not affected. Plug the microwave into that outlet and see if there is a problem. That way you will know for sure whether the microwave is the problem or not.

If it is the microwave, purchasing another one will most likely be cheaper than repairing it.

Microwaves need to be on a electrical circuit that serves nothing else but itself, one quick way to see if this is the problem, unplug your refrigerator and plug the microwave in and see if its ok plug-ed in that plug, if it is you will need to find another plug else where that has nothing else on it, and it should be on a 20 amp-her circuit, like the frig. (in most cases), hoped we helped, good luck to u..

About my Emerson microwave oven; What can cause the fuse to blow in my microwave oven?

That would be a problem with a door switch, door switch mount, or hinge.

In that case the outlet your using is pushing out too much electricity. Try calling your local electric company for help or a professional electric repair man.

You have a shorted high voltage capacitor.

Here is a link you or someone you know can use to test it, but please read the safety info:

Emerson Microwave (mw8992rd) not heating up

I have replaced the main fuse on this model. Though blown main fuses are common in this model, it will not even turn on when they blow, so your problem is most likely NOT a blown fuse. I had heard of your problem so, when replacing the main fuse inside one, I looked for additional fuses and saw none. The store was wrong. Even if it were a fuse, the security Torx screws mean that you couldn't replace the fuse anyway.

This microwave seems to have been haphazarly been recommended by Consumer Reports, but it is terribly unreliable. The turntables break when popping popcorn, the main fuse repeatedly blows, and they also stop heating.

Emerson MW8119SB microwave wont stop running with door closed

It should have a one-year warranty on parts and labor.

I'd call Emerson at 1-800-695-0098 to find your nearest authorized service center to have it fixed free.

It's probably a bad door switch or door switch mount.

Blown Fuse

If it went dead almost immediately after pressing the Start pad, that's usually a shorted high-voltage capacitor.

If it went dead a few seconds after pressing the Start pad, that's usually a failing high-voltage transformer.

If it goes dead or blows the breaker when you plug it in or open or close the door, then there's a problem with a door switch or door switch mount.

Microwave emerson not turning ON

That makes it sound like a bad high voltage transformer.

Do you detect any burning smell?

Do the windings of the high voltage transformer seem blued or blackened?

They should be copper colored or maybe a little darker due to the varnish.

Emerson MW8107WA Microwave causing apartment fuse blow

It seems that something within the microwave must have fried in the power supply unit. This should not be a very expensive repair, However, get a technician t take a look and give you a rough estimate before you decide to repair.
