Restart your computer repeatedly tapping the f8 key to enter safe mode while the screen is black once in safe mode where the only things working will be your keyboard and mouse allowing you to attempt to repair your computer Windows Advanced Options Menu Please select an option: Safe Mode
Safe Mode with Networking
Safe Mode with Command Prompt Enable Boot Logging
Enable VGA mode
Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked)
Directory Services Restore Mode (Windows domain controllers only)
Debugging Mode Start Windows Normally
Reboot
Return to OS Choices Menu Use the up and down arrow keys to move the highlight to your choice select safe mode with command prompt Click start run type cmd press Enter black screen should open DOS mode this will vary depending on your operating system type in net user username For eg. If you want to change administrator password , type net user Administrator It will prompt you to enter the new password. Enter the new password and the password is changed http://wiki.ljackson.us/Control_Userpasswords2 if this fails you will need to Select safe mode with networking to download you could download all of these or just one save them to a usb drive for later use if one fails to remove the password Windows Password Recovery Basic http://majorgeeks.com/CmosPwd_d239.html A CMOS BIOS password recovery tool Editors note: This tool should only be used by experienced computer users. Please see the enclosed read me if you would like to run it from Windows. How do I remove administrator password on the BIOS of Optiplex 390

The CMOS contains the current BIOS settings
  1. Turn off the computer and disconnect the power cable from the electrical outlet.
  2. Remove the computer cover.
  3. Locate the 2-pin password connector (PSWD) on the system board.
  4. Remove the 2-pin jumper plug.
  5. Locate the 2-pin CMOS jumper (RTCRST) on the system board.
  6. Move the 2-pin jumper plug from the password jumper to pins into the CMOS jumper.
  7. Plug in AC power to the system and wait ten seconds for the CMOS to clear.
  8. Move the 2-pin jumper plug back to the password jumper.
  9. Replace the computer cover.
  10. Connect your computer and devices to electrical outlets, and turn them on.
Location of the RTCRST Jumper will vary by platform and form factor. For more information about the jumper locations refer to the system service manuals located at www.dell.com/support/manuals

How do I delete or reset a new system password, and a HDD password so that I can set a administrator password on a optiplex 390 i5 window 7.?

If you do not have the current passwords, it's going to be a bit of a problem. The BIOS password mostly. Contact Dell Support: http://www.dell.com/us/business/p/optiplex-390/pd Perhaps they will give you a one-time BIOS password. If it's a login password, you could try a Full Factory Recovery. If someone put the passwords in , I would ask them, that's the easiest way.

I need ethernet drivers for dell optiplex 390 running on win 7 ultimate please

Try dell's site. If they don't have window's 7 drivers, try the vista drivers.

Get onlineand got to www.google.com In the google search box type: "DellSupport" (without the quotes and put your manufacturer name before Support). Look for downloads and drivers. Enter your model number and operatingsystem when requested. Download and install the Network drivers.
You can also try Driver Guide at:
