Currently there is no way to do this unless you are on Mac OS X 10.7 or above. If so, you must shut down your computer, turn it on, and right after you turn it on hold down the option key. Hold it until a screen comes up that looks similar to the one below.
Then click on "Recovery HD" and click the arrow. It will boot into recovery mode and you can restore it using an internet connection.
This is often a sign of directory damage which can only be cured by starting the Mac from a suitable CD/DVD.Your Mac software disk has software that should fix it.Put the disk into the mac and restart while holding down the C key. You will get a page come up that asks what language you want to use.At the next page you should get the menu bar. Go to the utilities menu (right hand end) and select "Disk Utility". Wait while it loads up then select your HD at the left hand side and under the FIRST AID tab select 'Repair Disk". This will take a while - anywhere up to 30 minutes, sometimes even longer. If the software can fix it, it will. If not it will tell you that it can't and that you must use a third-party tool like DiskWarrior or Drive Genius. These are not cheap so you may well have to take it to a service centre. Sometime it is an indication of a failed (or failing) HD. Let us know what happened.
When you start up your computer, hold down the option key. This will bring up the bootable devices menu. Depending on wether or not you have an Operating System installed, you should see either 1 or more icons. Click on the one with the CD icon that should be labeled "Snow Leopard". Once you have clicked on the icon, click the arrow beneath it and your Mac will boot off the OS CD.
You can install Windows 7 on a MacBook using either Apple's Boot Camp, VMWare Fusion, Parallels, or a combination of these.
Once you have finished installing Windows 7, you should shut it down, insert the gray disc #1 that came with your Macintosh, then start up Windows and let the disc contents autorun. This will install Windows drivers for the Apple hardware. If the disc does not autorun, just run it manually from My Computer.
Try holding down ALT while booting up and select Macintosh HD. If that doesn't work try inserting your mac osx install CD or DVD restart hold down ALT. Select the CD using the arrow keys after the CD has loaded go up to the drop down menus and go to disk utility, then click on your main boot disk (macintosh HD) and under the First AID tab (if your using osx) click verify permissions and restore permissions, then click verify disk and repair disk. Try to boot up. If this doesn't work restart leaving work mac osx CD in hold down D then follow the disk checker steps. This will tell you if there are any errors on your disk (hard drive). If there are you need to get it fixed or replaced.
1. Let it spin for a while and see if it eventually gets to the desktop. Sometimes this will work. 2. Insert your Mac OS install disk, restart your computer (if you need to force it to quit first, push and hold the power button until it shuts off). Then when you restart, as soon as you hear the famous mac chime, press and hold the C key until the Mac OS disk starts to load the system on the disk. Once it reaches the install window, don't launch the install, but go to the top menu bar and locate the Disk Utilities App and launch it. Run a Verify, Repair and also a Repair Permissions. Once done, shut down and restart without holding the C key. You should be good to go. These powerbook 15" models are awesome... keep it hummin!
Hold the power button down. Keep it down until the unit powers off. Then press power to start the machine up, and as soon as you hear the starting chime (boooong) press Command+Option+P+R and keep them held down until you hear the startup sound 3 times. Then you can let go and it should start normally.
