Question about Maytag Dryers
First thing to do is figure out if their was a problem with the exhaust. You gotta check the vent pipe and the filter housing for excessive lint buildup. Clean all that up then check the duct fuse to see if it is bad. the dryer will run with the fuse blown on most gas fueled dryers.
If all them safetys is good then their must be a probo with one or more of the components of the gas assembly itself. The first thing you check is the flame sensor. If it is open (dead) then the ignitor won't glow. If that turns out to be ok then I next check the ignitor. If it is bad then replace it of course. NOTE: if the dryer works some times and then sometimes not then those pesky gas valve solenoids are intermittant. Sort of like the New Orleans Saints, they work half the time if you is lucky. Replace them. Read more
