Question about Western Digital My Book Pro Edition II WDG2TP10000 1 TB FireWire 400 (1394a) Hard Drive
When my drive connects to the computer, it has unusable file-retrieval times (plus videos tend to break up constantly). That's when it connects. Most of the time, it either sits there, noiseless, and unrecognized, or it starts to whir up the normal soft way it likes, but then it clicks a few times, the soft whir dies, and the crazy heavy-usage load whir that I don't particularly like blazes up for about 10 seconds, then dies down as the soft whir kicks up again and the cycle repeats. What is happening to my beloved Dark Star? She's such a good friend, I can't bear to lose her.
Hi, did you try to upgrade your firmware ? You can try that, the firmware update also will reduce the fan noise, go here: http://support.wdc.com/product/download.asp?groupid=104&lang=en
