SOURCE: how long can I expect batteries to last with

Hi,
Depending on battery quality, temperature, and the unit itself, 3 - 6 months. It can very a lot. Please make sure everyone has a copy of the emergency key. Having an extra battery on hand is a good Idea also. I just installed that lock on a hotel and it's still running strong after about a month and a half.

Good Luck,

Car battery keeps dying

Myguess is that you have an electrical short which is causing a drain on the battery. The way to check this is to get a 12 v test light. Unhook the negative side of the battery. Hook the test light up between the negative battery post and the battery cable. If the light comes on, You have a short/drain. To find where the short is, you leave the test light hooked up. Then you start pulling fuses until the light goes out. However, your car stereo needs to be completely unhooked before you do this test because most stereos have a constant electrical source so that the clock stays accurate and the memory stays active so your programed stations don't get lost. The last 3 days, my battery lasts only a few hours. It used to last at least 15 hours

Battery and Usage under Settings will tell you exactly what is draining your battery. You should power your phone off for a few minutes every 2 or 3 days.

Also try letting the battery die completely, and charging up to full UNINTERUPTED. This will help the phone reset it's battery meter, which may be the problem.

Your next step would be to backup the phone, apps, and SD Card files, and perform a factory restore. Then reinstall your apps and replace your data.

If that fails, you may simply need to purchase a new battery.

Last few days car seemed hesitant to start and this morning wont turn at all it just gives a small clicking noise

Maybe the battery is going bad.

Or, connections are bad.

Or the alternator isn't charging the battery enough.

Walkie talkie batteries don't last

The Batteries that Motorola uses will die after a while mainly because people leave them on the charger all of the time. But there is a way to refresh them. You let the battery die completely, then you charge it up for about 12 hours. Then you let the battery die completely. Do this a couple of times and the batteries will last long.
Also, Motorola use to make a battery refresher (or did when I worked there.) It will charge and drain the battery automatically. It will even give you a fault if the battery is completely dead. For the HT1000 (for example) it would be the WPPN4065BR.
For future reference, don't constantly charge a battery. Only have it on the charger when the battery is actually dead or very low. This will increase battery life.

My battery is dead & some of pixels are damaged (not dead)

You need a new battery. Rechargable batteries eventually die and need to be replaced. The best way to make your battery last is to let it run all the way down each time before recharging.

As for the display, this sounds like a serious problem with the screen. How long the screen will last is impossible to guess - it might keep working the way it is for a few years, or it might die within months.

If your laptop is under warranty, send it to HP for repairs. If not, you should find out how much it will cost to repair before sending it in. If you want to buy a battery and take your chances on the screen lasting, I would suggest buying a used battery through eBay (or another source) rather than spending full price, just in case the laptop dies.

If you decide to keep the laptop and get a used battery, I suggest backing up important files regularly.

Phone dies quickly after charging

It would be helpful to know just how quickly the battery is going flat, and I'm assuming there's no history of the phone having been damaged, but... Try swapping the battery for one from a friend's phone. If that cures the problem, you need to buy a new battery (they don't last forever). Otherwise, try charging the battery fully in a friend's phone using their charger, then see how long it lasts. If this lasts much longer, the problem is that the phone/charger combination isn't charging the battery properly. Mix and match chargers and handsets (mark which are yours before you start, or you will get mixed up) to identify where the problem lies. If the battery isn't old and tired, and the phone is charging it properly, then the problem must be that the phone is drawing excessive current. This could be because you've got it set up to do some power-hungry thing (backlight continuously on, playing MP3s or FM, promiscuously Bluetoothing or IR communicating, etc). Shut down all the functions you don't actually need at the time and see if that makes any different. Once you've eliminated all those, you're left with the liklihood that the phone has a fault which is making it draw excess current. Not good news, but at least you've eliminated all the other possibilities. A.
