Question about Toshiba Satellite U405D-S2848 Notebook

1 Answer

My computer will not restart

When I go to restart my computer it will not restart all the way, it will go to a blank screen but then the D drive flashes and makes a noise and stays that way until I manually power off the computer. There are no CD's in the D drive and I can power down my computer with no problem.

Its blinking and the screen is black whats wrong?

First, ensure that there is no CD disk in the CD-drive. Remove it.
Disconnect any USB memory-sticks.
Try to restart.

Second, the computer tried to read the Windows software from the disk-drive, but has FAILED,
either because the disk-drive is totally "dead", or because there were some errors reading part of the Windows software from the disk-drive.

Take your computer to a computer-store, for professional diagnosis and repair.

Everytime I try to tourn on the computer it will only show initialization and then after that the screen goes blank without even showing windows 7 interface.

Insert the Windows 7 DVD into your DVD-drive.
Restart your computer.
Tell it to "boot" from the DVD-drive, instead of from the 'C:' drive.
Eventually, click "Repair My Computer",
and work through the options.

I've format my motherboard with windows7 but unfortunately while it was formatting it reboot and the screen dissapear and just come out a blank screen

A little clarification - I assume you actually mean you were installing Windows 7 on your computer?
If you have a valid Windows 7 CD/DVD, put it in the drive of the computer, restart and enter the BIOS setup screen (you will see instructions on the screen as the computer boots up, might say press "esc" or "delete" key to enter BIOS or something similiar.)
MAKE SURE that the PC can boot from the DVD drive; this is normally an option in the BIOS marked "boot order"; make sure the CD/DVD drive is at the top.
Restart and the installation should start again.

Blank screen

Look very closely at the screen when its on, see if you can see a faint image in which case the ccfl tube in the screen will be dead. Also try the laptop on an external monitor.
Otherwise if you know what your doing, remove the battery, hard drive, optical drive, all but one stick of ram, modem/wireless card and try again. There is a small chance it will be the cpu or motherboard.

Maxtor D740X-6L 40 GB drive won't start up.

Put your windows xp disc in the drive and boot up from it, run windows repair or failing that reinstall on the upgrade option to keep your files and programs.
If that fails, you will have to do a full instal.

Dead pc

try to remove all external device connected to your computer. just leave the keyboad, mouse and monitor connected.
restart computer.
if still a blank screen
remove everything connected to your computer (mouse kyeboard and monitor) restart if nothing happens
open your computer and remove all devices (hard drive, optical drives, memory... restart,,, you should be hearing beeping sounds indicating motherboard is looking for memory. try putting back 1 memory at a time and checking all mem slot. to identify if one of the memory could be causing the blank screen. if both memory will not work try to use known good working memory. if you dont get to hear the beeping sound using a known good working memory. your memory is the problem.
give me more info
