Dynalink RTA 1025W Problem

I had the modem for about 1.5yrs and was working fine till last october when i noticed the connection kept dropping. I thought it was a problem with the ISP and they seemed to had fix the issue a few times - i.e. the net seem to be working better, but still kept dropping. I lost faith on the ISP and just lived with the problem. I didn't even think it was the modem at all since it was still kinda new. I should have known better.
Now the modem is not working, by that i mean the DSL light doesn't go on, only the power and wlan and the port one if i connect it by cable. I called Dynalink helpdesk and they asked me to reset the modem and restarted an so on. At the end only the Power and WLAN lights went on - so no DSL connection. Since it has been more than a year, now it is outside guarantee. Gutted!

Is it worth trying to fix it by myself? Could it be a software issue?
