Question about Sony VAIO VGN-T250P/L Notebook

6 Answers

My Third VGN-T250P just died. always the same, stops cold.

Always the same, one second working fine the next totally dead. No lights at all. The last two were working on battery the first one was plugged in. DC supply is fine (I have several) and I've checked that the power in connector is ok and that power is getting through the black and red wires across the back to the board under the keyboard near the QWA and S keys. I've had them apart several times for HDD and fan replacement.

It has been 2 years since the first one died (and is still dead). I'm sure it had cooled off by now

  • atwood772 Mar 12, 2009

As in original post. It is totally dead. No fan, no lights (including the battery charging light)

  • atwood772 Mar 12, 2009

sounds like no one is actually reading the post. All three are totally dead. No boot, no post code, no fan, no lights no USB power, nothing at all. One would suspect the main power supply.

  • atwood772 Mar 12, 2009

So the solution is to take it to someone to fix it? Since 3 of 3 have died in exactly the same way there would seem to be a design problem. What I want to know is what component has died. There is no obviously burned component, I've looked quite carefully and I do this stuff for a living.

There is a small component in your notebook pc.the number of the component is IC367 .THIS ic controls all the power system in your note books.as you sdaid the notebook is completely dead-- no fan ---no lights.then its quite necessary to check out on the main board and replace this ic from it.the cost of this ic will be near to $3 per ic for each note book which is dead.get it repaired at local repair center .it you find hard to operate multimeters and soldering irons.also get the circuit board checked at the repair center so that they can check out as to why this IC blowned up in all your note books.

Its the problem of the components getting overheated in the main board.and at last they just blows up and the unit becomes dead.to resolve the issue the just get the internal board checked and replace the faulty.it will not be too costly to get it repaired as the components are not too costly.

Hi!

Have you checked the power supply board and heat sink? Is the fan working?

Yes its the power supply thats at fault. This may have happened due to excess current through the power adapter, change the power supply of your laptop.

Ensure that the laptop is not overheating and shutting down, in that case replace the cooling system.

Check the temperature of the system, Download SpeedFan and check if the temperature is getting critical.
In that case check that the fan is starting, if not , replace the fan.
Also ensure that is not a system problem, start the laptop from a boot cd and leave it on, if it does not shut off it is either the system or a device like the video card, that can fail only in determined runtime conditions.

It seems that your OS has registry problem, there are only two ways to fix it:-

1) Re-install your Windows with Re-partition your drives (In that case you have to take backup of your all data.)

2) Start PC in Safe mode, then download a reliable program like i always use Reginout to fix my OS registry properly.

Thanks

Added memory to laptop, nothing on screen now

remove the memorys and check the memory slots for any damaged pins .test the memory one by one on 2 slots(power off place one memory on slot1 and power on then do that procedure on slot2 ) if the laptop boot, one memory or one slots have problem and you can work with another one ,if you didnt see the boot screen at all try to reset the Bios .
if still dont work have to repair or replace the mainboard.

My dvd player will show the video but there's no sound

Still haven't solved the dvd audio issue but it DOES play flawlessly on WinDVD. It still won't play on Real Player OR on Windows Media Player. So I'll just have to lay dvd's on WinDVD.
