Re-thread throttle cable to hand control on handle

I have a Rover hand mower (Briggs & Stratton motor) and I need to re assemble/thread throttle cable in it's little case then I will be able to re-attach to mower handle bar. Cannot figure out how the shaped wire sits to engage the cable to start/ run/ stop.

SOURCE: briggs & stratton with idle problem

This is not unusual at idle; there is a governor to limit maximum RPMs and this device isn't worth beans at an idle.
You may be able to carefully adjust the idle adjustment (see your manual or B&S website) to achieve a somewhat more even idle speed.

SOURCE: 4.5 hp Briggs& Stratton push mower will not run

You need to rebuild your carb. The diaphram in the carb has gotten hard and is no longer acting as a fuel pump to pump the fuel to the carb. Get a rebuild kit and a compressor (for compressed air) to blow out the jet passages. It is an medium to easy job, just watch the small parts. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hint: Before you remove your fuel/air jets, bottom them out first and count the number of turns it takes to bottom them out and mark it down for each fuel/air jet. When you go to reinstall the fuel/air jets bottom them out and then back them back out to the number of turns before removal. That way the fuel/air jets are set to the right number of turns when it was running right. Good Luck, I hope this helped Please rate me...Thanks

How do i repair the throttle control on my briggs and stratton engine?

Depends what you mean repair..if it is in place but it isn't pushing or pulling the carb linkage..check the small clamp at the point where it connects to the carb linkage,,that clamp slips and doesn't allow movement..set it to the correct movement and tighten..if you are talking replacing it..onhook at that clamp and disconected the cable,,just mark or remember what connection hole it came out of...then remove the handle bracket on dashboard..normally two screws...note depending on the model you may need to remove or loosen and set aside the gas tank..the cable comes in a complte kit or just the cable..I suggest the complete kit..but you can disconect from the handle and replace just the cable. After the handle and cable is replaced..push it to the open throttle and then push the linkage to the full throttle position and tighten the clamp...you can make further fine tuning from there..

How do I adjust a throttle on a briggs and stratton engine?

If it the simple handle type throttle cable..push it to full tbottle and follow the cable to the carb..you should fund a small clamp that hold the cable in position..jus loosen and adjust the carb throttle to full throttle and tighten..then push it back to idle to make sure it Idles if not adjust the clamp again until you reach both throttle and idle..good luck..

Throttle cable assembly

The cable you are trying to replace is the OPC cable (engine brake cable), not a throttle cable like you are trying to fit. You need to take it back and get an OPC cable, which will have the correct end on it to fit into the bracket on the side of the engine.

There is a flywheel brake that is contolled by the safety bar of the handle. If the cable to the safety bar has broken or is no longer attached the the flywheel brake will be on. Not only that there is an ignition Kill switch as part of the flywheel brake. If the brake is on, the kill switch is activated.

Your mower needs some simple maintenence
1. Recoil assembly repaired or replaced.
2, Throttle cable and control repaired or replaced (Item 10 below link)
3. User Safety Bar cable adjustment or replacement. (Item 11 below link)

The above items are not a good reason to call your mower a parts source.

Without a model number I had to GUESS which model this was.
This is my best guess:

Hello, I am using the Craftsman 675 Brigs & Station 190 cc lawnmower, and I'm trying to turn up the throttle. It apparently does not have a throttle adjuster, and I was wondering if there is any way...

After researching the engine application, I see that this 675 is NOT an OHV engine. It appears it is the L (flathead) engine with the standard features. The 775-875 Platinum series mowers have OHV engine applications. That being said, many mowers have the carburetors with the governed throttles set to run at the the OEM mandated maximum speed. Some (like the Briggs Quantum series engines) have the throttle plate still attatched. You would need to bend it back up and install an aftermarket throttle cable assembley (like Murray makes). You would connect the carburetor end of the throttle cable to the hole in the plate assembly that has the governor spring attatched. Some even remove the governor entirely (internal governor has to stay in) and connect a throttle cable on the plate controlling the butterfly in the carb. Your unit may have this feature with the plate having a few different holes in it in which you could install the end of an add on throttle cable.

As soon as my 10 hp Briggs & stratton engine starts, it goes to full throttle. I have no control

The engine speed is controlled by a governor and throttle position. There is a spring that holds the throttle (butterfly valve) against the slower position. When the motor is under load' the governor exerts force to open the throttle position. Make sure that all of the components are clean and not binding. Look for a broken or disconnected spring. It is also possible that the governor is stuck in the demand full throttle position.
