Does not read on the mac

If the USB hard drive was formatted in NTFS on a PC then the MAC cannot read this hard drive.
If you format this hard drive on a PC in FAT32 file format then the MAC can exchange data between the MAC and the PC.
The MAC can read and write PC data to this hard drive.

Hi I have an apple mac laptop and have plugged my new iomega 320gb 2.5 select portable hard drive. The problem is im trying to drag movies accross however it wont let me?

Portable devices such as USB disks (in most UNIX based operating systems) will be mounted as READ-ONLY. Remember the old floppy disk with a slide switch to make them READ-WRITE? same principal.
Try right clicking (MAC uses double finger click together) on the Desktop Icon that appears after you plug in the USB drive... is there an option to select READ-WRITE?
let us know if that was it.

My mac wont recognise the usb when i plu g it in

Make sure after you plug in the camera that you turn it on.

If it still doesn't read try downloading the Software Suite for Coolpix for Mac.

Still problems then try another USB port on your laptop, or try it on another just to be sure its working properly.

E160E USB modem(wireless broadband) wont install

I haven't used that modem (wrong country, even), but I might be able to point you in the right direction:

Is the company called Optus? If so, I think your best bet would be to call them. 1300 300 937 looks to be their number.

(Earlier I was thinking . . .
Plug the modem into one of the USB ports. Select "System Preferences" from the Apple menu in the upper left-hand corner of the screen. Click "Network". Look for your USB modem in the list on the left side of the window. Click its name to select it. . . . I'm not sure this will work. Call and ask them for help. I believe I read somewhere it was compatible with Macs 10.4 and later. You likely have 10.5 or 10.6.)

I split my hard drive so my mac can get it but know my pc wont get it

You could invest in a program called MACDRIVE that allows PC's to see mac formatted drives.

Otherwise I would format it as a PC drive only using the FAT 32 sysytem that AFAIK macs can also still see.

It wont pick up on my hp computer it was my friend and he had in his mac computer

If the hard drive was formatted on the MAC then the hard drive need to be reformatted using the Windows. If you format as a primary drive in FAT32 then the MAC can read and download files on this external drive so that a Windows PC or laptop can read. These files can be exchanged between MACs and PCs.
