Question about Kenmore HE2 Plus Front Load Washer
A few days ago my father in law installed the washer in replace of our old washer that broke. Before the old washer broke the cold water worked fine on it. Now we have this really nice washer but only steaming hot water is filling the tub thing, not cold. The washer is brand new so I don't know why it wouldn't work. Maybe he set it up wrong? I'm not really sure but we need this washer to work because we've been having to spend around 50$ a week just to do clothes at a laundrymat. Please answer asap.. Thanks :)
Look at the water knob one will say hot one will say cold . on the one that says cold there is two arrows one will say open one will say shut turn the knob closer and closer to the arrow that says open. turn it till you cannot turn it any more . now your washer is most likely to work if not look at creaters glide if still does not work cheak water pipes and coneshoins and if still does not work ask someone at the store and if STILL does not work return to store and buy a new one i hope your washer works.

I once had this problem. The solution was to remove the hot water hose connection to the washer and look at the filter/screen inserted into the end of the hose connection on the washer machine. This screen protects the washer components from foreign particles entering. You may find a badly-clogged screen, so clean it. I have seen a cold water screen clean, while the hot water screen was clogged...something to do with hot water and minerals or iron in water.

Yes patrick you can try removing the cold hose from the washer, look inside the valve for a metal screen. If it has sediment blocking it remove screen, clean it and reinstall. If still no water replace inlet valve.

Yes, the only other thing I would do and you may have done this is to put the hose directly over in the washer tub and turn the water on to check the flow. If that's good then replace the water valve.

Are you on well water? turn off the cold water to the washer and clean the screen filter out. do not leave filter out.
the machine probably has a cold only final rinse so it won't work properly.

SOURCE: Slow Cold Water Fill
There is possibly a filter screen in the hoses as well as the water valve.Check the hoses for screens.Occasionally the water valve will deteriorate inside and must be replaced.
I am on a water well and have the same problem. This weekend I installed a inline filter purchased from Lowes. It has stopped the sand and silt problem. You will have to buy one extra water hose to do this yourself.
