Thanks. I don't think it is a power problem because TV works in same plug. The model is DVP-NS708HP. It is under warranty, and there does not appear to be a little hole.

Neither option works, so I will get it fixed under warranty.

    Thanks for all the information.

Try unpluging it for a while and then try again, see if it ejects. Possibly a power problem. do you have warranty on this?

Some dvd players may have a small hole on the tray where you can push in with a paper clip to eject the tray. Could you tell me the model of your sony? Thanks.

  • Ekse Mar 12, 2009

Since its underwarranty, its best to get it warranty repaired.

Try holding down the eject button for 10-30 seconds, does it appear that the drive would be spinning the disc inside or is it completely silent?

Also try turning the unit off from the power button and also try pressing the power and the eject button at the same time.

since its still covered by warranty we don't really want to take it apart to get the disc or to force the tray out.

I'll get back to you in a moment.

Let me know the results of the above things. And also.

Here is the repair service finder for australia

Just enter your model, then select the black or silver version which you got, then enter the other details and you should get some contact details to where to get it repaired. Here is also a phone number you can call directly.

    1300 13 SONY (7669).

If you don't care about the warranty you could take the unit apart, and remove the disc, but since you are lucky and you still have warranty, I would personally use sonys service in this case. I'm sure they will return your disc also, let them know that you want it back :)

What is the model number of your DVD player? You may try power resetting the unit and check if it helps. To power reset, turn OFF the DVD player and unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet for 30 seconds. Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet and turn the player ON. Attempt to open the disc tray.

Depending on the model number of your DVD player, simultaneously press the POWER + STOP + EJECT buttons. If the disc tray still does not open, simultaneously press the DISC1 + STOP + EJECT buttons.
NOTE: This step may not apply to all models as DISC1 is not available on all DVD players.

If this does not work and if the DVD player has DISPLAY and PREV buttons, press and hold the DISPLAY+PREV buttons for two seconds to unlock the drawer.

This issue may occur if the disc is damaged or if the disc was not inserted properly into the Blu-ray Disc® player. Follow the steps below to open the disc tray and eject the disc.
  1. Turn off the Blu-ray Disc player.
  2. Disconnect the power cord (mains lead) or AC adapter.
  3. Allow the disc player to remain without power for 30 seconds.
  4. While pressing the OPEN/CLOSE button located on the front of the disc player, reconnect the power cord.
IMPORTANT: For some Blu-ray Disc Home Theater models it is necessary to press and hold the OPEN/CLOSE andPLAY buttons simultaneously, then reconnect the power cord.
NOTE: This step may require the assistance of a second person.
  5. After reconnecting the power cord, when the tray opens, release the OPEN/CLOSE button.
  6. Remove the disc.
  7. If necessary, disconnect and then reconnect the power cord to recover the player.

When I turn on my Sony DVP-SR200P DVD player and press the eject button it's turns the DVD player off.

turn on first the dvd player and wait to read a disc inside if no disc inside the tray it will say disc error. if the unit doesn't turn off, eject now the the cd tray. if get turn off, remove the cover then check for an stuck up gear or obstruction in the cd tray assembly. you can check also the power supply board which may have unusual parts like bulged or burnt component parts.

I can't get my DVD disc to eject. It will play but won't eject? Any suggestions

You should try unplugging the DVD player from its power source then plugging it back in. Now try to open it and if that doesn't work than you'll probraly have to take it apart to get the disk out but sometimes the DVD players can get worn out or if you have a cheaper DVD player it might just be freezing up on you. I have had these problems before. I just took the DVD player apart to get my disk and then trashed it.

Tray locked on sony dvp-ns77h dvd player

If the Sony DVP-NS77H DVD player displays "TRAY LOCKED" and you can't eject a disc or open the tray, try the following - First turn the unit off. Then, while holding down the eject, play and stop buttons simultaneously (on the front of the DVD player), turn the unit on with the '/O button (also on the front of the player). This released the locked tray for me.

My sony blu ray player will not open, it turns on and just keeps trying to read the disk, but wont read it or open it. can anyone email with assistance. thanks

The only thing i can suggest is, turn unit off, unplug for a minute, and then plug it back in, turn on, and keep hitting the eject button. If not hit the stop button once and then the eject button. It just might work. Hope this helps.

Blu Ray player turns on, displays "Welcome on the screen. After disc is inserted, "Wait" appears on the the screen and then it freezes. What is wrong?

This sounds like your Sony player is not reading the disc.
I have bought faulty DVD discs before that have given this same fault!
- I assume you have tried a disc that you know works in another DVD player?
Remember, your Sony Blu-Ray should be able to play ALL REGIONS of standard format DVD discs, so you should get sound & images from any one you choose.
