Question about Saeco 00034 Incanto Sirius Super Automatic Espresso/Coffee Machine

Open Question

Saeco brew group cog not cycling.

The saeco sirius brew group cog is not cycling. The drive motor works. I checked out the gears and they are all okay. When I put it together, and turned on the machine the cog aligned itself to its correct up position for the two large teeth, about a 30 degree rotation. When I try to draw a preground coffee, the machine justs makes a little cycle noise and asks you to set the water quantity. Bypassing the limit switches, I can see that the cog only moves a few degrees back and forth.

I accessed the service menu and all functions and mircroswitches appear to be okay. Also, the machine does not rinse when turned on.

Brew group blocked is normally displayed when there is no water flowing through the brew unit. Remove the brew unit and use a small screwdriver(make sure machine is off and cooled), then gently lift up on cross section fitting on white plastic valve inside the machine, if water flows out it works, now we will plug in machine keep brew unit out and turn it on and press fitting in again, if water flows and pump kicks in and water flows out from valve and not under machine you are good, The coffee grind might be too fine and needs to be adjusted to coarser.

Hi
Sorry to tell you but Brew Unit Block is usually the CPU or the main board going bad. It is usually caused by a constant drag on the brew unit causing more power going to the drive motor causing the CPU and the main board to heat up weaking the CPU or main board to the failure point. To much coffee going into the brw unit and causing the brew drive motor to work harder to compress the coffee will also do the same. You will have to replace the CPU or the main board. It is usually the CPU.

You must make sure that the brew unit is ready to reinsert into the machine. To return the brew group to the centered position, you first need to drop the funnel. To do this, look on the opposite side of the brew group from the handle. At the top you will see an object that looks like a sharks fin. If you follow this piece down you will see 2 horizontal bars on the brew group body. Push your finger between these 2 bars and the funnel will drop. Now you can push the puck slide on the left side down and to the center. If you look down through the funnel you should see a piston. This should be centered in the funnel. If not, locate the slide on the left side of the brew unit,( it should be hanging down, a flat rectangular piece attached to the cylinder) and push the slide to the right until it does. Push the press button and you are now ready to reinsert the brew group in to the machine. First you must close the door with the drip tray and dreg drawer inserted and turn on the machine without having the brew group in. You will hear the motor turn on and when it stops completely, open the door and remove the tray, and dreg drawer, now replace the tray and insert the brew group. If it still won’t go in check the cog in the back of the machine. There are 2 wide teeth that should be at the 10:00 and 12:00 position. If they are at a different position you have a broken drive gear.

After replacing the filter in the tank, keep the button pressed; when the indicator light is flashing, then release the button.

Also at times, the gears in the brew drive assembly will not complete the cycle to the proper start position for different reasons. Some of the reasons are:

  1. Brew group jammed or blocked.
Note: A jammed or blocked brew group can happen when the brew group starts the cycle but doesn’t finish it.
  2. Either one of the micro-switches in the brew drive has gone bad.
  3. Brew drive motor failure.
  4. Broken teeth on either of the brew drive gears.
  5. Dirty brew group, covered by coffee grinds.
  6. Brew group or gears not lubricated.
  7. Connections to the board from brew drive assy., or motor have gone bad

Odea giro plus gear that drives the brew group has broken 3 times

The coffee is being ground too fine usually. Also not cleaning the brew group and lubricating it regularly can cause this.

The gears are standard plastic and any excessive force will cause them to break. The only things that cause excessive force to gears on saeco machines is fine coffee compacting in the brew group and/or a dirty brew group that gets stuck and does not cycle properly.

Saeco Vienna Digital Expresso Maker - brew group will not line up to fit back into espresso machine

Could be a number of reasons. If you "hear" the brew group moving in one direction, stop and then move again, then the microswitches are o.k. If the sound of the movement is low and/or slow ( slower that normal), the CPU/power board may be bad and needs to be replace. If the movement is as before (same sound and movement) but not lining up, perhaps the brew drive motor is bad.
To remedy this situation, an authorized SAECO Service Center would have to open your machine and replace damaged components. Contact Saeco USA Inc. to located a Service Center near you at 800-933-7876 (toll-free), ask for customer support, or contact SAECO via e-mail at : outlet@saeco-usa.com

Saeco Vienna gear jammed

This has happened to me. If the problem is the brew group gear is in the wrong position, you can manipulate the brew group until it matches up with the drive gear in the machine. You'll know it matches if you can insert the brew group back in the machine full until it clicks.

Turn on the machine so that the cog at the back will cycle back to the original position. Supposedly to cycle back to the original position. See if this works.
