Find another TV, VCR (many around now), or other cable using device and exchange - 7 or so screws on back of tv come right off and expose lower interface where cable jack is. remove wires, solder salvaged unit in and it works.... Be careful when removing back of tv - you can pull other wires when doing so.

Hello Ann, I will try to help you, well if your for sure about the Manufactur date on the T.V., then yes you will need a digital converter box, also it is suggested to have an outdoor UHF/VHF antenna with coax to attach to your converter box, the old rabbit ears aren't suggested. I hope this helps in getting you prepared for Feb. 19, 2009 when all T.V. stations broadcasting will convert to the new signal. Thank You and Have great day.
If your cable converter box has audio/video connections on the back of it,you don't need to worry about using that RF coax connector. Just hook it up the same way your DVD is hooked to the TV input jack. Get a 3-wire cable (yellow-red-white)hook it to the same colors on the back of the cable box and hook the other end to an unused input on the back of the TV. Then select that input with your remote and watch TV.
