Battery not charging even after I replaced it with a new one

I have a Philips HQ 7240. After 6 years my shaver stopped working. Battery only lasted a few minutes. It worked normaly if i pluged it on the cord. I thought that the battery is dead (seems logical after 6 years), so I replaced it with a new one - same type (NiMh). Unfortunately this didn't slolve my problem. Shaver still works just 2 or 3 minutes after the charging. I can hear the motor is running slow all the time. If I plug in the cord, the motor starts to go faster...

Recheck your solder connections and ensure that polarity is correct

I did that and it seems OK. Obviously the battery is charged normaly and the problem is that something drains the battery. Now i tried to charge the original battery in a charger for AA batteries and after 5 days i put it back into the shaver. It worked normaly for one day.

Ther eis either a problem with the circuit board itself or there is a short. Check your soldering well and make sure that you don't have any solder touching points that should not touch.

Norelco 7240 battery

I have a shaver of that type too and when my father's shaver and mine went dead I put NMH type batteries in them. Now these items are made with Ni Cads but they are old design type batteries. The charging of these batteries have to be managed but being the readout on mine tells you when it is full the problem is not such a big one. Just do not leave plugged in for days. Nickel Metal Hydride batteries can have twice the capacity of the Ni Cads and also they have no memory effect.
I would get some premium batteries from Tenergy and solder them into the unit and see what happens. I think they have 2 AH batteries in AA size now and almost that in AAA types.

I have a philishave hq 6849 which is about 5 years old. I charged it yesterday and today it is "dead" when I plug it in the mains the greenlight comes on but nothing else happens. Is there an internal...

Yes, there is an internal battery and it can be replaced. You will find the battery you need at shaveroutlet.com. See link below
http://shaveroutlet.com/shaver-battery-pack-for-most-shavers-p-211.html
You will need one or two batteries depending on the internal configuration of your model.

To open the shaver, you will need to remove the two screws on the back of the shaver. Once the back cover is removed, you will be able to access the battery pack and circuit board. You will need to unsolder the old battery pack from the circuit board and solder in the new one

Hi I've had a Philips HQ 8170 for a few years. It

you need to replace the blades or if they're still good they could be blocked with hair , if your model permits you to remove the blades from the shaver, make the blades boil in a container for a couple of minutes in water if they're clogged it'll unclog them
