Replace satellites bose - Audio Players & Recorders

Sorry for the incomplete thread title. My question was if anyone had replaced the Bose satellites in their Companion 3 (or 5) with other computer speakers with a similar RCA input jack- many other computer speakers use the same jack (which does not infer compatibility but is convenient.) Obviously there is a risk for doing so, but we're talking low-powered computer/desk speakers here. Only mid and highs are being sent to the satellites, so something similar in size may work fine.

I have successfully replaced the original Bose satellites with a JBL platinum computer speaker (I had to use 2 left speakers, as the right speaker is powered and would need to be disassembled and re-wired.) The left speaker is passive with a RCA plug, just like the original Bose satellite, and also has a small single paper cone driver. I don't know if the polarity of the plug is the same, but since I'm using 2 of these it doesn't matter.
The sound is pretty close to the original (I can't A/B them but it's close enough). I already had 1 set of these lying around, and bought another set on EBay (for the other left speaker) for about $10. So pretty cheap replacements.

If you want it the have the sound it was engineered for, you must use the same satellite speakers. If you don't, the sound will be be seriously non linear..

I have sound from satelite box through bose 321 but no picture on tv

First, you need to run the coax cable from your satellite dish to the "cable in" input on the back of your satellite receiver, not the Bose. If your satellite receiver has an HDMI OUT, and if the Bose has an HDMI IN,run hdmi OUT from the rec. to the Bose IN, then keep your HDMI connection from the Bose OUT to the TV IN as is. Make sure you've selected the correct input on the TV menu. As it is right now, you're not delivering any video signal at all to the TV!! -only audio(red and white). There are a couple other ways, but they won't give you the same quality. I assume this is HD, right? If you CAN do it this way (i.e. if you have enough HDMI ins and outs), it's the best possible hookup and you won't need the composite (red, white and yellow) at all. By the way, it's the yellow connector that carries the video signal; the red and white are audio left and right. If you can't hook it up all HDMI, disconnect the "separate cable" (I'm not sure what that is or what kind of cable or what it's for)and plug in the yellow connector into video IN on the Bose.

I am trying to hook by Bose 123 to my Panasonic Vestra 3d tv. I have the cable connected but I am not getting anything

To view a DVD in the Bose system on the TV, connect an HDMI cable (or composite-Yellow, Red, White) to the back of the Bose system (output) and the other end to the input on the back of the TV.

If you have a cable box or satellite and want to get the audio on the Bose system, connect an RCA (white and red) cable to the back of the Bose system (input) and the output on the back of the cable box/TV/satellite.

Switch channels on Bose as needed. Good luck!

Bose lifestyle 38 system, sound problems

Call Bose and get the latest software for your system. This will solve the problem.
Details:
I had the exact same problem with my Lifestyle 48 system connected to a Dish Networks satellite box (Vip622). The sound would continually switch between 'Dolby Digital 2.0', 'Dolby Digital' and 'Dolby Digital 5.1'.
I called Bose Tech Support and they had me reset all of the components. This helped for a short time but it was still happening. They told me that the problem was with the Satellite box, since the Bose system just output what it was receiving and didn't do anything else. We also determined that my system software was quite old. They said that the software wouldn't make any difference, but I got them to send it out anyway.
Well, when the new software update arrived, I installed it on my Bose system and have not had any audio switching problems. So the Bose system software update seemed to fix the problem.

Hooking tv to Bose radio

You need a pair of RCA cables. You might have some extra.First if you have a cable box or satellite box you must use a pair of rca's (3 cables, yellow, red, and white ends). If you have a digital cable or satellite box the on the back there will be rca outputs.use one of the rca cables and plug it into the output of the cable box to the INPUT of the Bose stereo(they will be labled) then on the OUTPUT of the Bose take another pair of RCA cables and plug them into the rca INPUTS on the TV then use the original remote to the TV and change the Input source the either AUX 1 or AUX 2 which ever aux you pluggen the cable into coming from the output on the Bose.If you do not have a digital Cable or Satellite box then you will need a Modulator. What this is ,is a small box that will convert the regular cable coming from the wall into those RVA cables that would plug into the INPUT of your Bose. you can get a modulator from walmart meijer radioshack...ect for about $20.Hope this helps, rate me if it does or leave more info.GOOD LUCK.
