check the batteries on the mouse usually on the underside of a mouse possibly under a plastic sticker rub your fingernail across the top to locate a small (phillips screw) star screw make sure they are connected you can do this by spinning them around and fully charged hope this heps
If your unit is a wireless keyboard only, then there is a button on the bottom of the keyboard and another on the receiver that is plugged into the usb port of the computer. In order to calibrate the system when it looses its signal, you have to press and hold both buttons down at the same time for 30 to 45 seconds. That means press the button the receiver and the button on the bottom of the keyboard at the same time and hold them down for 30 to 45 seconds. This will revive the signal and bring it back to working condition.
If your unit is a wireless mouse and wireless keyboard then there are probably 3 buttons involved that need to be pressed and held for 30 to 45 seconds at the same time. One button on the mouse, one on the keyboard and the last on the receiver.
If you press and hold the buttons down as explained above, it will correct the problem.
Unless the Dell is fairly new, the touchpad cannot be turned off. If you have a special function key that shows a pic of a touchpad with a line through it, you use that key in conjunction with the Fn key. This combo turns the touchpad on and off. If it doesn't work, then you may have a faulty touchpad. This means that either the touchpad data ribbon has come unattached or the actual circuits that control it are bad.
Usually with these mice it means that the battery low. It may however mean it is ready to connect, and the connection button on the USB and Mouse must be clicked at the same time, to connect the devices.
