SOURCE: I need a Kitchenaid Microwave service manual for model KHHC2090SSS

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

This model is inverter-based, so it does not use the larger, exposed capacitor that transformer-based models do. It uses one or more small capacitors hidden on the inverter board.

As long as the high voltage section was not energized within about a half-hour of disassembly, and one does not contact the high voltage connections, there's really no need to discharge high voltage capacitors.

They have built-in bleeder resistors that bleed off the charge in seconds. But there is that one in a zillion chance the resistor inside is defective, etc.

The shock from stored DC high voltage isn't what hurts you. What hurts is getting sliced up by the sharp metal chassis when you reflexively pull back your hand after the shock.

I'm also curious as to what problem you're troubleshooting.

Our microwave does not consistently come on. When we put in the time to cook it tells us to open/close door. If the cavity light comes on then it works, if not it doesn't work. Please HELP! Thank you

Sounds like you have one or more faulty micro-switches for the door. They are not expensive to get, but your service center will likely charge you a lot to fix it. If you are handy, you can pull the case off and replace them yourself.

Microwave won't heat for first minute - starts working normally after that.

The magnetron may be defective. You can replace the magnetron, there is no other possibility.

Sharp microwave & convection & turn table on model R1874F won't work

That would be just a defective secondary interlock (bottom door switch) or its mount.

My help file on door switches is here.

The service manuals you need are here and here.

You can get other Sharp parts from Encompass here or you can call them toll-free at 866-779-5835.

Won't power on

I would first check the outlet "under load" to be sure it works. A quick & easy way is to use a toaster or hair dryer.

If the outlet is good, then it may be the microwave's fuse or the oven thermostat.

The service manual is here. It also has instructions for removing the oven from the wall, which you will need to do to check / replace the oven thermostat.

You can order parts from the Sears Parts Direct Web site.

Door open button won't work on KitchenAid microwave model YKCMS135H

Page 3 of the exploded view here shows the door open parts 24510L and 250201 (or 23551B if your full model number is YKCMS135HSS).

What look like part numbers seem to be reference numbers.
