The DVD player came pre-loaded in my compter. It had been working (apprx.4 years) until Christmas 2008. My grandaughter received computer games as Christmas gifts,that failed to load in my computer.When loaded it look's as if they are going to be recognized then ''Please insert sisk'' appears. Now DVD movies won't work either.The CD portion is still OK. Thanks for any help!

1) Set your TV to channel 3. 2) Insert a pre-recorded tape into this unit. 3) Press the OUTPUT button on the DVD/VCR so that the VCR OUTPUT light is lit. • If noise appears on the TV screen, press the VCR/TV button on the remote control. 4) Press the PLAY button once. 5) After a few seconds, press the PLAY button on the DVD/VCR for 3 seconds. • The RF output channel will change to channel 3 from channel 4 and you will see a playback picture. • When a picture does not appear on the TV screen, repeat step . 6) Press the STOP button to stop playback.
Check the lens, sometimes dirt gets in there. Try to run a DVD cleaning disk... they are sold at many places, they are cheap and you can still use them for cleaning your CD players and DVD players at home. This should fix the problem.... if not ... try to shake the DVD player gently to remove any foreign matter that could be stuck somewhere...good luck!
If you do not finalize the disc then you can not play it back. Go back to your instruction manual and look under 'setting options'. There should be a choice to 'finalize disc before ejecting'. The recorder will not finalize a disc until it knows when you are done recording, so you have to tell it somehow.
