Question about Sanyo DS27930 27" TV

Open Question

TV Flicker I have a Sanyo mts stereo dbx TV that has good picture, but flickers occasionally. They are always horizontal lines that squeeze the picture down to the very center sometimes, but mostly just get the black horizontal lines flickering until I stomp on the floor and the flickering stops, (for a few minutes at least). All cables and cords are connected properly and snug. Don't know what is causing it to flicker. I opened the TV and couldn't make it flicker to save my life, but I put it back together and put it back in the entertainment center and it flickered same as before. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! ~Randy

SOURCE: TV picture flickers

If your DVD player is separate from your tv, you might have a loose cable plug or connection. Depending on the type of flicker you have, a vertical circuit loose connection would cause this. If you could connect it to a cable or antenna it might tell you where the problem is located. A faulty circuit in the DVD might cause this too. Stargazer

Your TV is in the demo mode. Try this: Press the MENU button and hold it down for about 10 seconds.

SOURCE: Flickering multi-colored line in the middle of the screen.

You have a failure in the vertical deflection circuit. This could be either a bad vertical chip, the power supply that runs the chip or a bad capacitor in that circuit. This is usually a repair best left to a professional. There is a small possibility that it could be bad solder connections. If genlty tapping the unit temporarily solves the issue you can try and resolder the pins on the vertical chip LA7841 is the part number. There is also a resistor 1 ohm 1 watt. If that resistor is open you can assume the IC is bad

We have a 27" MTS Stereo color TV. There are white horizontal lines at the top of the screen. We do have a DVR with Direct TV. How do we fix?

U can't.Only horizontal lines on the top parts of the tv screen or the lower parts of the picture screen.Or very light horizontal lines mix in with the tv screen pictures. The "CRT" the picture tube is slowly dying of old age.Quicker than they supose to.The late 90" these problems case show up alot more in standard tvs using CRT tube.Because the CRT and analog design about to be faze out of the market place. The glass molding and those radiation matrials, they used to make those "CRT" picture tube materials, not as good as before.

Doesn't turn on remotely or manually,

If this is a standard tv, then there are two bad caps. Near the powerline regulator on either side. Look for a 160volt 1MF cap and on the other end a 160volt 4.7MF cap. I don't know the particular model, but you will be searching the horizontal deflection. Is the fuse good? If not you will have to replace the horizontal transistor and look for two, 2 watt resisors at 12ohms and a new fuse as well. Can you do it?
