Question about Belle Foret Bathroom Sink Faucet - Widespread with Pop-Up Drain -

1 Answer

I installed a new sink and pop up drain assembly. But the drain drains very slow because the stopper does not go high enough. I have tried adjusting the pop up assembly.

Make sure that the piece going in to the drain that moves your stopper up and down is all the way in the hole on the bottom of the stopper once that is in hold the rod down so your stop is up then attach it to the piece attached to your rod this should solve your problem good luck

Clogged drain on moen bathroom sink

There should be a stopper valve on the sink's downspout (the first section of drain pipe). You SHOULD be able to loosen the nut holding the stopper valve's lever inside the pipe. Once you remove that nut, you can pull the lever out - that releases the stopper inside the sink, so you should start with the stopper OPEN, and hold it open with a chopstick or pencil or other tool when you remove that lever.

The lever and the bottom of the stopper itself will be wrapped with masses of hair. That's normal. Clean it up and reinsert it, put the nut back on & snug it down, then readjust the stopper.

If that's not enough, you may need to open the trap (the gooseneck-shaped piece of drain pipe under the sink) to clean it out.

Hansgrohe 88509000 sink drain does not close completely, water slowly drains out

This could be caused by the installation. If the installer did not use plumber's putty between the the flange and basin it will not seal with the basin. Another possible cause is if the basin is not perfectly formed it will cause the flange to oval or not seat evenly. If this is the case it may leak between the flange and the basin or the stopper may not seat all the way down and it may leak between the stopper and flange.

Some of the drain plugs have holes or slots in them so that the stopper can not be removed without taking the actulating lever out from under the sink. This rod is part of the linkage that is hooked to lift rod on top, Unscrew retaining nut to remove rod so you can take stopper out. Remember that any water that is in sink is going to run out of this hole once you remove rod. Good luck and thank you.

Pop up sink basin wont stay down to allow water to stay in basin

I'm assuming this is a mechanical pop up drain. If so then one of three things are happening. Either the pop up mechanism needs to be adjusted, there is build up inside the drain where the stopper is or the mechanical parts are worn and need to be replaced.

Remove the items from underneath your vanity so that you have room to work. Under the vanity the pop up will have an adjustment rod. It is possible that the adjustment has slipped resulting in the drain not closing off properly. Try adjusting the connecting rod and see if that helps. If not move on to the next step.

You will need a small pail to catch any water when you disassemble the pop up. Inside the sink put something under the stopper to hold it in an open position because when you disassemble the pop up it will drop to the closed position and may be difficult to get out of the drain. Under the sink there will be rod coming out of the drain held on with a threaded nut. Unscrew the nut and the rod will come out of the drain and deattach from the pop up inside the drain. From the top of the sink remove the stopper. Clear any of the build up which is usually a distasteful combination of hair and soap scum. A pair of latex gloves come in handy at this point. Check the pop up for wear at the point where the rod attaches. It is possible that this could be worn to the point of not working correctly when the mechanics of the pop up are moved to the closed position. Your local hardware store will have any replacement parts required.

Be sure to reassemble every component before using the sink and test for leaks. Good luck with your project.

Pop up raises only partialy, pop up not square in drain

YOU CAN TRY BY ADJUSTING THE ROD ,UNDERNEITH THE SINK ,MUST POP-UP ASSEMBLIES,HAVE A ROD COMING OUT OF THE DRAIN AND A ROD WITH SEVERAL HOLES ON ,IT TO ADJUST HOW FAR YOU CAN PULL THE ROD UP ,WHICH IN TURNS SHOULD MAKE THE STOPPER GO DOWN,ALSO A COMMON PROBLEM IS THERE IS TO MUCH HAIR AND TOOTHPASTE STUCK ON THE STOPPER ITSELF,SO SIMPLY UN SCREW THE NUT, THAT IS HOLDING THE ROD INTO THE DRAIN ,THEY LIFT UP THE STOPPER,THE STOPPER SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO BE REMOVED WITHOUT TAKING THE NUT AND ROD OUT ,IF SO YOU MIGHT HAVE TO REPLACE THE WHOLE POP-UP ASSEMBLY

My daughter pushed down on the plug & now it doesnt pop up!! lever at back doesnt work as the suction is so good!

drain assembly can be taken apart from under the lav. first loosen the stopper lever assembly. then proceed to loosening up the slip-nut on piping nearest to the drain. The drain is held to bottom of sink by a nut tightened to a thick rubber washer. Remove nut and remove drain. Dislodge stopper. Replace drain with fresh plumbers putty, underneath lip of drain where it makes contact with inside of lav. Reassemble drain piping and lever.

You have to take apart the "drain rod" assembly under the sink. There will be a rod with nut on it that goes into the drain near the sink. Take the nut off, drop the stopper in with the eye hole towards the wall and then reinstall the rod through the eye on the stopper and tighten the nut.

I have a plunger? plug in my bathroom sink is has snapped at the back so it no longer lifts up and down do i need a complete new unit or just a part?

you csn get a new plunger kit, the lifter unscrews on the back of drain pipe, most kits you must need to adjust so plunger closes all the way, there usually is instructions with kit and the kit is not very expencive

The drain pop up is not long enough to raise the stopper out of the drain openning

If you look under the sink, there should be an adjustment for it, that is if this is the stopper that came with the sink.  If it is an aftermarket, make sure you got the right size.

Look underneath the sink and you will find the lever that moves the drain up and down. It is probably stuck.
