Question about eMachines Computers & Internet
How to recover my E728 ZRGA Mfg date 2010/09/11 Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. I accidentally restored to factory default, now everything is gone. I can't click on anything(bootmgr is missing etc).Via a system restore disk I can get to a BOOT X: partition but I can't access it. It contains folders such as SETUP/Windows/Users/Sources/Program Files all dated 13/7/2009. Please help!!!!!!!!!!!
If you have done a Factory Recovery, all your date is gone. You have formatted the HDD. You must start from the beginning, do all your Windows and eMachine updates. In Windows 7 you will find a folder, "Windows.old", after you have finished ALL the updates, do a Search for Windows.old, you will find SOME of your old data. If the Laptop didn't complete the Recovery process, try again. Where did you download the e728 Recovery disk from? Is it a boot disk? A ISO disk? You may have to contact eMachine support, using your Serial Number, order a Factory DVD to return the Laptop to Factory Settings.

have you tried reinstalling and reformating? if not you can try to reformat. make sure that it is partitioned because you can lose your files.

SOURCE: I have a satalite 300
try using ActiveBoot suite v5.0.5, when turnig on your computer. This program will scan your computer and show u all the errors, missing files, wrong dll,...and repair them. It worked very well for me as I had a TROJAN virus on my Toshiba satellite 300 and couldn't even boot anymore.
After that try use the RegistryBooster tool witch solves every windows problems.
I hope this will help. Good luck :)

SOURCE: recovery problem
first go with assumption that you can get ALT-F10 to start recovery-- if the error message gives an option to ESC. the next screen might be similar to an F8 boot screen with option to start operating system or diagnos memory. if a choice is ESC, escape. when the machine restarts, hold down ALT and tap F10 through the acer splash screen and a seccond or so after. recovery screen might appear. if the error screen appears, use ESC again and ESC the next menu until the machine restarts again and try the ALT-F10 to get the recovery.
my machine kept shutting off duing the windows first start after the recovery. upon reboot, i needed to start the recovery again. my shutting down was caused by a weak power adapter. went into a store and used a good power adapter and was able to use the ALT-F10 recover and windows loaded first time. solved.
but before i learned to ESC from the error message, i had thought i needed to fix the boot record by giving command "mbrwrwin.exe install rtmbr.bin" from the command prompt (using a boot disk created on a diff brand of computer) to get to a cmd prompt.) after all the effort, i think my problems with ALT-F10 would've been solved by using the ESC key! and of course a better power adapter.

Go to Start/All Programs/HP Tools/HP PC System Recovery
If this doesn't work then try pressing the F10 key multiple times during the bootup to access the recovery console.
If this still doesn't get things fixed then you need to re-install XP
