This means one of the cartridges is defective, they cant align if they cant print. What i did to fix this problem is insert 2 working cartridges and get it to align properly, even if they are low on ink, then lift the cover and the cartridges will move to the center. When this happens pull the power cable out, then insert the full non functioning cartridge. Plug the power cable back in. I tried this with a color cartridge, the color cartridge was non functioning but i was able to print in black. Basically you align the cartridges and then swap them so the printer thinks they are still aligned. The color still doesnt work and it is probably a defective color cartridge.

Testimonial: "thanks for all the replys, But nothing works. it prints a test page fine. I assume print cartriges are fine .On initializing it says error in aligning. after two steps .out of paper then paper jam it prints on the third try. But will not do likewise on the copy attempt. I can't think there is much of a problem when it prints a test page, But I have tried everything except purchasing a new printer."

If machine does not print the colors it cannot align. Try changing the color and try again

Computer says paper jam in printer but printer will make copies

Welcome to the ever popular-widely experienced world of:
PAPER SIZE MISMATCH!!!
YES! That wonderful world where unbeknownst to you but knownst to us (OK I watch Spaceballs WAY TOO MUCH) When you are sending a print job, somehow the paper size setting has been changed. Either in the printer itself, or in the print properties settings in your OS.
Double-check those paper size settings and try to print. If it still happens, try resetting the print settings in the printer back to factory default. Make sure you print out the printer configuration before resetting in case you need to reinstall those settings.

I have an epson printer and when I hit print, the paper slides right thru & says paper jam

  • Carefully remove the jammed photo paper. Gently pull the paper up and out of the paper feeder tray.

  • 2

Reload the paper into the tray. Stack the paper on a flat surface and then carefully slide the paper stack straight into the paper feeder tray---along and aligned with the right side of the tray. Secure the stack in place by sliding the left "edge guide" against the paper stack.

Press the "OK" button to resume printing. If you had a "Paper is jammed in the printer..." error message displayed on the control panel LCD, pressing "OK" should also clear the message.

  • 4

Pull the paper from the printer, if the status message reappears and/or the printer doesn't print, and check the paper for folds, buckling and curled edges or corners. Also check the sheets for sticking. If any of your sheets stick or have damage, remove them from your photo paper stack and replace with new sheets. Reload the paper and press "OK" to try again.

When I try to line tells me that the paper size mismatch and only takes a copy of the text

Have/had the same problem: Getting "paper size mismatch" on the C4280 status screen, after we got a paper jam. Every time we hit OK and put in paper, Message about "Now printing Alignment page", it feeds through quickly, with nothing printed on the page and reverts back to Paper size mismatch. Finally got rid of the error, not sure how, but now when I try to copy anything, we only get the lower right postion of the document that I'm trying to copy. Printing from the PC seems ok.
Powered off and back on, and it is back to P"now printing alignment page, quick feed through and "paper size mismatch" error. AND
When copying directly from the glass panel,it will only print a quarter of the page -however it prints and coorectly if we print directly from the computer.
The problem is the paper size sensors. Remove the plastic access panel that is for access to the rollers in the back and has 4 rollers on it. There are two papaer sensors attached to the printer circuit board (PCB). The control arm for the sensor is a small plastic piece that extends slightly into the paper path above the PCB. The plastic can be broken when you are removing a paper jam. I stuck a small piece of a match stick in the sensor to keep it open (as though a wider piece of paper was passing throught the printer). I can't switch to smaller card stock, etc, but who cares, it works.
The copying problem is caused because the C4280 will not scan correctly until after it does the alignment phase.

Message says no paper in front tray. Paper is where I've always put it in back. Won't print.

go print -> properties -> page setup -> print options -> tick Disable the paper source setting of the application software -> hit ok and go back to "main" -> select the paper source that you want and hit ok ok and print

    Continuous PAper jam error-message!!!

Sounds like a small piece of the jammed paper is stuck inside on a paper path switch OR in pulling out the jam you've dislocated a switch actuator so it is not working correctly. Careful checking of the paper path components should find it. Probably a slot in one of the guides is hiding it.

    LSU error message

    Hi,
Remove the jammed paper. Unplug the printer from the mains and PC. Inspect the rollers, etc for tiny paper piece(s) that may be stuck, or other debris. Try to clean rollers and make sure they are dry.
Keep printer unplugged for about 2 minutes and replug and try a test print.
Also make sure that you have waited long enough for the printer to heat up before giving a print job.
Finally, it could be an issue with the paper sensor. If this is the case, you will probably have to take the printer in for servicing..

Epson R320 "General Error" message - unable to clear

If you are getting a 'carriage jam' error as soon as you turn on your Epson printer with no tasks in progress, then check for any piece of paper stuck in the carriage. Remove the paper carefully. If the paper tears, part of it might remain inside the paper path and damage the product.

Fix 'Carriage Jam' : Open Door, clear carriage jam,
and then press OK to continue' error message
Turn off the printer and open it to see where the paper is stuck.
Manually move the carriage toward the opposite side.
Check the paper path and remove any piece of paper or any other object that is stuck in the path.
Reconnect the power cord and turn on the printer.

    Paper Jam on

most printers are pretty cheap now so replacement is always an option....on the other hand, I will spend countless hours trying to figure out what is wrong first. Remove all paper first, open printer and check for pieces of torn paper or debris, if you have a can of air you can blow out the insides to clean. Put 3 or 4 sheets of paper in, print a test page and watch carefully how paper advances...is it straight or crooked when being loaded? Is printer trying to pull more than 1 sheet at a time? Good luck
