You didn't post the Sony Model number or the OS you are using? Have you tried , unplugging, remove battery, plug in, reboot? Open the Control Panel , select Device Manager, scroll down to Network Adapters, open, do you see the Wireless Adapter? Is it enabled? Try to Update Driver. Have you done ALL your Windows and Sony updates? If the Network Adapter has a red X in the Tray Notification Area, it's there but not connected. Click on the Icon and see what Available Networks appear. If your wireless is working, Choose your SSID, enter Security Key and connect.

My wireless has stopped working on my sonyvaio laptop and the light will not come on the wireless indicator?

you can check the drivers of the wireless card in the device manager underneath network adaptor .If you find any mark on it like "!,?,X " then you need to update the wireless drivers from the motherboard cd that you receive with the laptop or else you can go to the sony drivers and downloads  website to download the latest drivers and you will be good to go.

My Vaio laptop is not letting me go wireless

Well first I recommend linksys routers, as members of the Cisco family they are dependable and well supported.

Next try going to start - run - then type CMD in to the run box. A command prompt should come up. when you see the DOS prompt type ipconfig /release then once that process is done type ipconfig /renew .

This should reset your computer and it should auto configure to new settings. If this does not work I would need to be online with you while you poke around in your router settings/config.

If you would like more info or a further attempt at fixing this please get back to me I CAN help with this problem.

Wireless problem

Check in the network settings if the wireless network card isn't disabled.. if windows has disabled it you can flick the switch as much as you like it wont help.

If you dont know where to re enable it, let me know what version of windows you are running... and ill set out more detailed instructions

PS.... As a general rule of thumb, you could have bought something worse than a Sony Vaio, not bad choice....
