Question about Dell Inspiron E1505 Notebook

Sound gone on Inspirion E1505 after installing Logitech Webcam

Running Vista. Installed SW for webcam and all sound (internal/external speakers) no longer work. Certain chimes and noises will occur so the speakers are still working.

I checked the drivers and the sound section of Device Manager. My default device is actually showing the green EQ bar while iTunes is running in the background. It seems like the sound should be heard (almost like it is muted somewhere). I have checked everywhere I know to see if something is muted and it is not.

HELP!!!!!

Go to Sound options in control panel. Change the volume and try choosing a different sound device.

You may have a laptop with another mic installed or other mic software installed
try setting the webcam mic as default

The speaker icon ( checked as working) and volume level graph should be visible
Right click on the volume graph and click "Test"

To set required (webcam) mic as default - click on mic font to highlight and click "Properties"

Installed logitech quickcam 9000 and now creative sound card does not work unless webcam is unplugged from usb. Sound does not work at all with webcam plugged in. Using Vista and latest drivers for webcam....

Please try plugging the webcam into other USB ports. If it still does not fix the issue, try to update the driver for the sound card as well.

If possible, conduct a Windows update as well.

Unable to install web cam on my laptop with already fiexed webcam

yes but you have to set primary camera control from control panel. if you are running windows OS then go to control panel and find "hardware and sound"

from there select:
device manager
expand applicable menu and disable the internal camera so that the primary camera used will run as the external installed camera. (this will need to be done after camera is installed)

You will have to set the logitech webcam up to the medium you are using yahoo...msn. This is done after the software is installed.I don't use yahoo but on msn open it up then go to tools on the msn page at the top above all your contacts.Open the tools and go to webcam setup, click on it and follow the steps. This will get the mic working. It took me awhile to realize you had to do it twice once for the software setup and again to set it up to mate to MSN.
