Bose radio for ipod it fell off counter and is not working now took apart and everything is hooked up and looks ok will charge ipod but no sound goes throuh speakers any ideas?

Hi, yes I have an idea what might be the matter, especially if the iPod was in the cradle at the time of the accident, you probably have a couple of circuit board contacts that came loose at the point where the docking terminal meets the circuit board. Fixing this will require some pretty precise soldering and the use of a strong magnifying glass. The broken solder joints will not look quite like the unbroken ones, they may actually be up off the circuit board a bit-or where the solder turns into the green circuit path may have a crack. Either way it will require some nifty soldering as I said. To fix a crack in the green circuit trace this will require scraping a little of the green off the circuit trace ( actual color of circuit board varies slightly by manufacturer ) exposing enough of the copper to solder back across the gap to restore conductivity. This may need to be repeated several times more than likely. Also to find the cracked solder joints you may try to wiggle slightly the entire docking connector while looking at it under magnification, then you may better see the defects. I hope this was of some help, and thanks for choosing FixYa,good luck-Prodzilla.

I purchased a Denon I Dock ASD-11R and a Denon Receiver AVR 2311CI. The iDock says it is compatible with the Gen IV ITouch. The dock is compaible with a gen III ITouch - worked fine. I plugged in a Gen...

I too purchased the DenonASD11R Ipod dock to connect to my Denon AVR2311 Receiver, and I too experienced the same problem. I think it might be software compatiabilty issues between Ipod Gen 4, the Dock and Receiver. Some other Denon Ipod Docks are not compatiable with Ipod Touch 4. I returned my Dock and received full refund, and will be waiting for Denon to bring out another Ipod Dock which will work with Ipod Gen 4

When docking my itouch to bose docking station i have to play around with it to get it to work or else if get just a lot of static

One or both of the connectors may be damaged or there may a "dry joint" where connector is soldered onto the circuit board within the docking station. Alternatively, there may be some dirt or dust stuck between the connectors causing a poor connection. You can try sharply blowing into the connectors or try using a small brush such as an electric razor cleaning brush to remove any dirt/dust. If this doesn't resolve the issue you need to try connecting another iPod to the docking station and see if you still get the static noise problem. If not then the problem is probably confined to your iPod only.

No power to ipod when siiting in the sounddock just ticking noise from speakers with or without the ipod sitting in it

You have a wrong type docking board fitted - check you have the right board type. If someone has replaced the docking board with the wrong type then this happens OR there has been a drinks spill in the docking area. About 2 ticks a second. Contact www.invebo.com for a new board or a USB upgrade kit to get your dock to charge the Iphone.

Where can I get a replacement iPod connector circuit board?

The ipod connector on the board has the same footprint as the angled iPod connector made by JAE, part number DD1B030VA1. Someone moderately skilled in PCB rework should be able to replace it. The part is SMT with 0.5mm pitch pins, and it's right up against an epoxy blob, so it takes a bit of skill to solder by hand.
I called Altec Lansing myself and they will not sell a replacement part, so I am repairing my own.

My JVC UX-GP5 docking station no longer charges the ipod and also I have intermittnet connectivity issues

Unfortunately the UX-GP5 has a flimsy ipod connector. The connector is soldered to a small circuit board in the flip-down dock. After repeated use the connector wiggles and breaks free from the board. Various symptoms result depending on how many connections break. A replacement board is available from JVC in the US. The part number is GVA10161-A1. If you're tecnically proficient you can change it yourself by opening the cover on the docking door. It's held in place by two screws that are hidden under a glued metal strip at the back of the door (behind the ipod connector). Once you get that open it's a simple matter to unscrew and unplug the defective board.

Wont play through my bose system anymore

the apple ipod are very delicate and it seems that docks are very harsh on the internal workings IE: motherboard of the ipod. it not just the touch, it's all ipods.
My suggestion is to check the headphone jack and if you get sound, don;t play your ipod on the dock at all. Your dock has probably done some damage to the audio circuit on the board.
If you get sound through the headphone jack save your ipods life and just use it through the jack.
I have replaced numerous motherboards on ipods played on docks. they just don;t handle the charging and playing very well whether it's heat or just the wrong voltage I am not sure.
But my first question to a customer is have you played it on a dock.
I would stay away from the dock

IPod not working in my music dock

Hi Natalie
Sounds like you're having logic board troubles. You need to take it to an ipod repair specialist to take a look at it. Sorry to bring the bad news. Chances are it's not a simple repair and will need a new logic board and they're not cheap:
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Apple-iPod-Nano-3rd-Gen-Logic-Main-Board-Motherboad-4GB_W0QQitemZ110290080297QQcmdZViewItemQQptZOther_MP3_Players?hash=item110290080297&_trksid=p3286.m63.l1177

If it's still less than a year old take it back to an apple store asap for a free replacement.

All the best

Bose docking station chip broke off

I had the same problem that the ipod would onl play when I pulled it forward in the dock. Looking closely, I saw that some of the pins on the left hand side of the connector were bent forward, so I bent them back with a needle:

bad4eb2.jpg

(ie. pushing the pins to the right, as shown here). This solved the problem for me.

If your connector is too far gone, I suggest looking to:

http://www.chargeconverter.com/shop/connector.htm

for a new connector for £3-4 or

http://www.chargeconverter.com/shop/connector.htm

for a whole PCB (Printed Circuit Board) replacement for £10-15.

Hope this helps...
