My pc stopped working - the power light is on but when i press the button to turn on the pc, nothing happens

power light runs off the main power source inside the computer. That part is working since the power light is on. The PC operates off the motherboard and other assocciated hardware on the motherboard which can be at fault it seems in your case. The hardrive should work and hear running when starting. If not your motherborad is at fault

WILL NOT CHARGE.AC ADAPER IS FINE ANS ALSO THE BATTERY IS FINE

Does the AC adapter works fine wth other computer? Does the power light glow at the power cord connection. It can be a motherborad issue for the power port that may be loose. Try changing the angle of the power cord and see if it works.
