I have a 16 horse v twin on my power washer,every time i pull the trigger the engine slow down

When you pull the trigger the motor comes under load as the pump starts to work at full pressure. Check for throttle control and setting for engine speed under load.

This sounds like a mixture issue. At the time you pull the trigger, the machine is intended to speed up. I suggest that you get the carb jets adjusted.

How do I get chemicals to pull through my power washer?


this is a downstream injector which will only activate under low pressure normally a black nozzle with a large hole.A good way of testing is disconnect gun and wand assembly leaving the hose on the ground turn water on let it free flow no need to start engine.You should hear or feel suction out of hose barb if not try starting motor this time but this time you need to grab the hose so that it would not swing and hurt someone with engine running causing more flow should activate it.

I have a Honda XR2600 pressure washer. When the wand trigger is pulled, the throttle does not open, the RMD just drops. If i manually open the throttle, it works fine.


Your engine produces max horsepower at 3600 rpm. The engine throttle should be set to max before you pull trigger. Pressure washes generally do not have automatic throttle. You do not have to use max power, but enough power to keep the engine running when trigger is pulled. You washer will actually last longer if you only use about 75% of rated capacity. Good luck

I have 18hp Vanguard it is on a pressure washer, when you pull trigger to wash it nearly chokes the motor down and it has a miss in it too while the trigger is not pulled

Engine runs great, when i turn the hose on it dies.if i hold the trigger and start engine it runs, as soon as i release trigger the engine dies


Make sure thre is no air lock in the system line. So first of all use a clean line to wash off and blow out any dirt in the spray gun.
make sure the engine is having good fuel and power it on to run and warm up . let it run over without any load on it . Now turn the hose on it and power it on slowing, do not stop but keep it running to power spray . The accumulated dirt might come off and make the run smooth after some time.

When you run the unit and shut if off, release the pressure from the spray wand before trying to restart the engine. This built up pressure will cause it to be very hard to start as you have found out. If it does not start on the second pull release the pressure again. Another option is do do what I did on mine. I simply put a pull tie on the handle so I can pull the trigger back and use the pull tie to hold the trigger open. Make sure if you do this, that you remove the high pressure orifice from the end of the wand before attempting to start the engine. Otherwise the pressure will come on abruptly and could injure you or do property damage.

Try remove the front half of your lance and with the water hooked up and on full try pull your trigger a few times on and off... Then try start the engine if it doesnt go with the trigger off try start it with the trigger pulled on... then replace the front half of your lance and see it the pressure is there now.

Sometimes this can loosen a stuck bypass valve otherwise if it is stuck bad then it will have to be stripped down and cleaned up

I just bought a 2nd hand honda excell psi max vr 2522 2.2 gpm max 5.5 hp gvc160. i put gas and oil and it wouldn't start?


Have a helper hold the trigger of the wand open while you try it again. If it starts that way you have a sticky unloader valve in the pump. DO NOT RELEASE the trigger for more than 10 seconds if the engine continues to strain when released! If the engine doesnt run freely when you let go of the trigger, pull it again and shut down the unit!
Add some power steering fluid to your supply hose (about 3 or 4 ounces at a time) and restart the unit with the trigger pulled. Allow the oil to flow through the pump for 1 - 2 minutes for each treatment. Several treatments should make the pump and valve happy again.

I have no spark on the road side of my 1997 18 horse power V-Twin Kawasaki engine in my craftsman mower.


not quite sure if you have spark at all or just on one cyl,either way it is unlikely that your main coil is bad but look for a wire on that side of the mower that may be shorted to ground and if it is it may have sorted out your trigger coil. It is a very small electronic box about 5/16 thick by 1"x 11/2", light in color. A quote I was given by a kawasaki expert was that nine and a hlf times of ten it is the trigger coil.spendy little buggers too.

I HAVE A BRAND NEW TROY-BUILT 2600PSI pressure washer. I have used it twice for about 1/2 hour each time. It worked perfectly. I tried to use it today with everything hooked up perfectly. The Honda engine...


Sounds like the governor is stuck. My pressure washer speeds up when it has to pump. Don't know if yours uses vacuum to trigger governor or direct linkage. Good Luck.
