Just stopped printing

OSX has become unreliable.
You could spend hours troubleshooting, or simply backup and re-install from disks, takes about 40 mins

The problem could be because of ONE out of FIVE problems listed below. Try the steps recommended and it should fix the problem.

• Cable Issue: It could be a possible issue with the cable. Try replacing the USB cable.
• Drivers Issue: Try uninstalling the printer drivers using the utilityhttp://ftp.us.dell.com/printer/R166248.zip .Then install the drivers from the support website. Use the link: http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&ServiceTag=&SystemID=PRN_INKJET_V305&os=WLH&osl=en&catid=&impid=. Also DO NOT forget to update your computer's chipset drivers before this.
  
• UAC issue: If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, a feature called User Access Control (UAC) would block the printer communication. Disable it, and it should work. Use the linkhttp://www.petri.co.il/disable_uac_in_windows_vista.htm for tips on how to disable UAC.
• Print Spooler Service Error: Either the service is stopped or not started correctly. Try restarting the printer spooler services on your computer. For tips on how to restart the Print Spooler service, use the link: http://www.ehow.com/how_2319117_restart-print-spooler-xp.html
• Firewall Issue: Maybe your firewall is blocking the connection to your printer. Try allowing access to all applications related to Dell or printer or communication systems under Program Permissions in your Firewall program.

Bummer, sounds like power supply. I used this guy when the logic board went out on my powerbook and it's been purring away for 18 months since. How to reset Canon MX310 printer low ink signal

1. Power off the printer.

2. Holding the stop/reset button, press and hold power button also. Hold both buttons together for 5 secs.

3. Still holding the power button, release the stop/reset buton, then press the stop/reset button twice.

4. Release power button (the screen should now say 'Service Mode').

5. Wait until the power button lights steady green, then press the stop/reset button three times with a 3 sec space between each press. On the 3rd press the indicator should turn steady orange.

6. Press the power button once, (the orange light should go off).

7. Open the printer and remove both cartridges. Wait for 10 seconds. Replace the cartridges and close printer. Wait for 30 seconds.

8. Press the power button, and wait until printer has shut down.

9. Press power button to power up. The printer will feed one piece of paper, then ask you to set the language.

10. The page counter is now reset! Enjoy.

I am currently having the same problem with a 17" iMac Intel Core Duo.  The printer worked fine for a few months, now it will only print in black and white and sometimes in color that is extremely faded.  I have tried every troubleshooting tip in the book and still no luck.

Hi there , i had a similar problem with the Canon Pixma IP 5000 when hooking up a wireless network.It stopped printing & the only solution was to uninstall printer/software,reboot & install as if you were hooking up printer for the first time.Sometimes software can be a problem if not installed in the right order.I had to completely remove sound card software after installing with antivirus already running.Antivirus had to go on last for everything to work.Still fine after 3 years! Hope you get printer running on newer OS.

go to system preferences select print and fax locate the printer in the list to the left and select the minus symbol underneath then restart the system. after rebooting go back to system preferences select print and fax connect the printer and click the add symbol under the list select the ip tab which looks like a globe if the printer doesn't pop up in the ip list you must use the default ip address which should be 192.168.1.1 but if that is not it you will have to contact support again to find out the correct address once you find it in the add print fax you just select add then select it in the default printer drop down menu at the bottom of the screen and you should be ready to print

On the first question it sounds like the Mac might have a problem with its port. Check cable, try another device in that port. You really should ask around on a Mac site as this is not a printer problem since it works on another machine.

For the second person, you're using the machine plugged into a network? Is it plugged into router? If you're having an IP address conflict, you can get the problems you're describing. Make sure that you use a static IP address that is much higher address than any dynamic machines might be assigned.

For example, if you're using dynamic IPs, for example in the area of 192.168.1.100 and up. If you have four OTHER devices on your network, they may be 192.168.1.101, .102, .103, .104. So, the highest IP address they should be assigned is 192.168.1.104. Too allow for guest IP addresses, you should set your printer to be 192.168.1.109 so none of your devices or a guests device will ever be able to have a conflicting address.
