Question about Dell Inspiron Computers & Internet
You need to check if your sound card driver is properly installed.
Right Click on Computer > Click Manage > Click Device Manager.
Look for the sound driver. If you see a question mark or a red X or exclamation point then right click on it, then uninstall. Then restart your computer.
If there's no ? X or !, and the sound card is there then right click on it then click on update. If no go, then uninstall then restart.
If you can't find the sound card driver, then install it. Get it from the website of the computer's manufacturer.
I also suggest that you can your computer with RadarSync so that you will know which drivers are outdated. You can also use the software to update them automatically.

You can download the device drivers from Dell WEB site, the support download page. Make sure you select your model desktop or laptop, better still, type in the Service Tag number, it is printed on the label on the bottom of the laptop and on the back or sides of a desktop. (If the Service Tag label is missing then go into the BIOS setting and on one of the BIOS pages, the Service Tag number will be displayed). This will open the page where the specific drivers for your model computer are located. Also make sure you select the Windows of the drivers for your Windows operating system. a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

SOURCE: Dell inspiron 8100 drivers
your audio driver is not helpful for sound card which is you install on your pc.
plaese change this driver.
all windows have different driver for different devices.
so you install the driver compatible with window vista and sound card.

Try reinstalling the sound driver for your laptop. Here is a link where you can download the drivers free of charge.
I this does not work there is either a driver conflict with the sound driver, or a fault on your motherboard.
Uninstall skype and see if the problem persists.

If you check Dell's support site for your model you'll find the XP / Vista drivers. Just download and install and it will work with Win 7.

SOURCE: i upgraded my dell inspiron
right click on MY COMPUTER select device manager, you should have a list of all devises connected to the system. There is probably a yellow triangle with an exclamation point next to your audio device, take note of the model you have,
there is probably a different driver for premium (i only used vista for 1 day before I switched to win7 beta and found that the beta was more stable)
