There is an automatic Dialogue normalisation function in Denon which is activated to reduce overly bright input signals. ( most movies have wide variation in sound levels and therefore this function is avaialble). (see page45 of your user manual).
When your system worked fine with the AVR 2808CI, then why is it giving problem with AVR 3808CI....???? You must ask Denon.
Protection circuits are activated when:
1). There is rise of internal temperature.
2).Core wires of the speakers are touching each other or a core wire is sticking out of the terminal and touching the set's rear panel or the speaker itself has a problem.
3). Speakers with an impedance other than specified are being used.
4). the set is damamged or has bad solder / dry solder connection .
If your AVR is new, please do not accept, the set could be faulty. The protection circuits should not be activated unless any of the above happen.
You must know, at times the protection circuits are not fast enough and it could burn some of the transistors on the power output circuit. With time, the solders on the circuit board could give way and give you problems later on.
You must sort out with Denon if the AVR is under warranty.

Let's deal with the turntable sound first - unless it's a self-preamplified model you would have to get an external phono-specific preamp to use with this receiver. Without one you'll get microscopically weak, tinny sound from the turntable. Google "RIAA curve" to see why.
As far as the CD sound through the Blu Ray player... for one thing it is flat, as in two-dimensional stereo. Compared to genuine surround from a movie it would be a letdown.
It's probably not heat due to the Marantz' large frame and heat-synchs.
This could simply be a mismatch of impedance. The amp is 120w per channel, so make sure the speakers can handle this. Check the impedance (ohms) of the speakers and the amp as well.
Clipping can be caused by overpowering the speakers, which could damage the speakers in the long-run.
If this is only from 1 source- (i.e.- Blu-ray player or cable) then it could be digital clipping.. This Marantz can decode 96kHz PCM or normal Dolby Digital & DTS. If this is a Blu-ray it may be streaming 192kHz PCM... (but most likely the Marantz will not even attempt to play that audio)

Remove the HDMI cable (out) to the speakers from the receiver.
Connect regular speaker wire from the receiver to the speakers.
Of course, remove the (now extra) HDMI cable from the tv.
That will remove the loop.
I have a similar set up. For yours, I would run one optical from your Sat box to your 407 and connect the DVD player optical to the Kenwood as well. This will allow you to get whatever your watching, DVD or Satellite to your speakers. For Video, use the component cables to connect DVD player to TV. For the SAT box, coaxial to TV or S video to TV will give you about the same video quality. I hope this helps. A couple of suggestions: Your new screen size will greatly magnify the quality of your video, what looked good on the Sharp may not look good on the Samsung due to the size difference. I REALLY suggest you get a new SAT box with a HDMI connection. Also you can get a blu ray player in the $120 range. The Blu ray will play blu rays and upconvert DVDs to a higher quality picture through its HDMI connection. You will be amazed at the difference HDMI will make on how your TV will look!
It looks like your receiver's high-speed protection circuit is being activated. It is definitively not a fuse. When a fuse pops, you have to physically replace it. When the protection circuit is activated, the speaker output is cut off and the power supply indicator flashes. There are a few reasons why this happens:
1.- Your speaker wire connections are loose. Whether they are banana plugs or bare wire ends, make sure the speaker terminals on the back of your receiver are tight using clockwise turning. 2.- Verify that your speakers have an impedance between 6 and 16 ohms. Your receiver was designed to work with that impedance range. Any impedance lower than 6 ohms will activate the protection circuitry. 3.- The receiver is used at high volume levels over a long period, which results in an extreme temperature rise. Improving the ventilation conditions around the unit might help alleviate the problem.
If after complying with these suggestions, problem is still present, you might need to have the unit checked by a professional for possible circuit failure. Hope this helps. Let me know.
