My Philips BDP2930/79 doesn't recognise any discs.

Does not recognise any discs inserted. With some, it requests that I insert a disc even though I have.

SOURCE: OPEN error stays on when disc inserted

I actually had this same problem with the same unit. There is a little bump inside the door that connects with the switch. You will see it if you open it and look down near the hinge of the door. When you shut it, it tells the player that the door is shut. I think there is a design flaw and it doesn't connect well, even if all the components are intact. I just got a little piece of tape and folded it into a little square pad, then taped it securely to the bump. Now the switch makes good contact with the bump and it works great. Good luck!

SOURCE: does not recognise discs

If this disc that you are trying to use is a DVD+/-RW and it has been used a few times for DVD-Video or DivX then you can try to do a FULL ERASE using the excellent ImageBurn by lightining now at v2.5.0.0 it takes about 20 mins to erase a full single sided DVD

Hope this helps.

Sony cmt-ne5 cd reads no disc

Then it is time to replace this player the Laser reader is defective or the disk doesn't spin due to a defective drive motor, in most cases they don't even sell parts for these players and they are not repaired unless under warranty.

Does the disc you insert are original..If not is isn't posibbles for your dvd player to not recognize yor disc cause most of the branded dvd players like you have didn't read pirated disc..but if the disc you insert is original. Try to clean your dvd player using a dvd disc cleaner.

My tv dvd combi 21pt6820/05

These units use a belt for the loading mechanism. If the belt slips at all, the loading will not complete and lock. This will prevent the unit from reading the disc. Try loading a music CD. If hte CD plays ok, then the optics assembly is in need of at least a cleaning or replacement.

Philips CDD4851 CD R/RW in my HP Pavillion XT963

Hi,
if the device is being recognised, As D:- Or E:- et,c.
right click on the device, and select options from there.
such as open/explore et,c.
If the disk has been written to in any way shape or form, even the smallest file. then the disk being read will be classed as empty.
try a different CD Disk, And try re-installing your CD writing software.
Hope this helps mike @ Compurepair.
