Question about Broan-NuTone Dryers
The fan is easily accessible in our attic. It has a little thermostat with temperature settings and it is set for 90 degrees. The fan goes on automatically on a hot afternoon but then won't go off even after dark when it has cooled down nicely. I have to climb up there and turn the thermostat up to make it switch off. Once off, I can set it back at 90 and the fan doesn't come back on until the next hot afternoon.

There's probably a thermal switch in the fixture which turns the fan on when the lights are on for a period of time and heat accumulates in the fixture. It sound like the heat from the attic is setting off the thermal switch. When the attic heat drops, the fixture works correctly.
This is a catch 22 situation, because if the upper housing in the attic is insulated from the attic heat, the insulation will prevent heat dissipation from the heat generated by the fixture's light bulbs. So, for safety reasons, the upper housing should not be insulated.
I'll need to work on this to come up with a fix.

Hi. The most likly cause of this type problem is the thermostat. Check the thermostat housing is it hot to the touch, is it close to a heat soarse, suchas, a motor or flu pipe for a water heater. If the thermostat has a adjustable heat range setting try setting it to the lowest setting if this shuts the unit off the calibration of the unit may not be set right. If the unit is new this should be covered under warranty.
