The WURLITZER CD JUKEBOX MODEL CD1 THREW CD8 HAD MECHANISEM THAT STOPPED DUE TO LACK OF LUBRICATION. TO FIND OUT IF THIS IS YOUR PROBLEM. FIRST THING TO DO,PULL THE 120 VOLT CABLE OUT OF THE WALL SOCKET. THAT WAY YOU WILL NOT GET HURT.
THERE ARE TWO MOTORS NEAR THE RECORD MAGAZINE, BELOW THE TURNTABLE.
EACH MOTOR HAS A KNOB ON THE REAR OF EACH MOTOR. TURN THAT KNOB A COUPLE
OF REVOLUTION, CLOCKWISE THEN COUNTER CLOCKWISE.
DO BOTH TURN FREELY??, OR IS THERE A BIND ON ONE MOTOR.

Binding in those jukeboxes is a common problem, due to the original lubricants getting sticky. Use alcohol to remove the sticky lube in the joints of the moving parts, then re lube with very light oil. It is not moving far enough to make the return switch.

At the far side of the white nylon gears at the base of the gripper arm is a small white 'duck bill' bracket, which clicks a microswitch when the gripper is over the carousel. When it breaks or comes loose it fails to click the microswitch and the arm doesnt stop.

I own a Wurlitzer 1015 100cd machine that when turned on flashes number 8 , picks up the CD selected, places it on the CD player which does not turn and after a short while returns it back in its slot....

It is a faulty "actuator switch" for the microswitch K7. Look at the base of the gripper .....follow that rod backwards towards the gearbox and you will see a little sticker saying K7. There is a microswitch activated by a 'duckbill' bracket. Either the bracket has slipped or it is broken, or K7 is faulty.
Wait until the cd has been placed back in the carousel then press on K& and if it the carousel rotates to the next selection...there's the problem.
In a new machine there is a Allen key for tightening that bracket.

Hello,

A flashing 8 indicates that the gripper arm is not returning to the idle position. It could in fact be returning, but a switch is not operating properly. Feel free to email me for further troubleshooting help. tech@wurlitzer-ohio.com.

I have a 1993 wurlitzer New York, New York jukebox. it has the same inters as a 1015 one more time. the problem i am having is with the cd gripper arm. it will take a cd from the cd carousal and place it...

I would suspect you have a lubrication (or more specifically lack of lubrication) problem. When the gripper arm is over the carrier, pick it up a couple of inches (as it moves to pickup a CD) and drop it. It should snap right back down. If it doesn't, it will not properly pickup and return CDs. You may be able to lubricate it to get it working again. For further information, you may email me, tech@wurlitzer-ohio.com.

Flashing 8 on display

Hello,

A flashing 8 on the display indicates that the Selection and Credit Computer hasn't detected the gripper arm has returned to it's normal rest position over the CD carrier (where the CDs are stored). It can be caused by several factors:

1. Gripper motor switch has been turned off
2. K7 microswitch or actuator is defective
3. Blown fuse in amplifier
4. Defective gripper motor
5. Open latch solenoid coil
6. Defective Selection and Credit Computer

I am the authorized Wurlitzer Jukebox repair center for the US and would be happy to help you over the phone. I can supply parts and repair defective amplifiers and computers, etc. Please email me tech@wurlitzer-ohio.com.

Wurlitzer arm keeps running

check the white plastic actuator next to the gear box, it is probably broken and not actuating the microswitch underneath it, these often fail, it may look ok,, but it actually is loose and the set screw on top of it is not clamping it to the rod.
