Unless you have a very good working knowledge of interference engines and the tools that are required to keep the various pulleys and cam gears from moving during belt installation I would have an expert change it.

Mtd 42" riding mower rear drive belt keeps popping off pulley

Hi, check the idler pulley arm and return spring on that belt. Its most likely not pivoting freely allowing the belt to loosen when you operate the clutch, regards Phil.

What is the configuration to install the belt

you need to place the belt completely around the tub which requires removing the front panel...once you get the belt around the tub you will bring the belt together in one hand under tub area.place the belt around the motor shaft while pushing the belt guide to the side... the best explanation i can give is its like a pulley on a car the tensioner rest on the belt to keep it tight during operation. hope this helps

I have a 1997 dodge neon need to change the timing belt and was wondering of how hard it is and what I would need?

In all honesty that is a job best left to a repair shop. There is a broad range of specialty tools such as camshaft locks/holders used to keep the camshaft from accidental rotation during belt install to cam belt/chain guide install tools.

I have two GE coin-operated washers in a three-family apartment building I own. Both started failing with the same problem in the same week. The clothes come out soaking wet. I popped off the front...

IT COULD BE A MOTOR OR JUST A WORN BELT , IF THE BELT IS'NT ABEL TO KEEP THE RIGHT AMOUND OF PRESSURE ON IT THEN IT'LL SLIP BUT IF THE BELT LOOKS TO BE IN GOOD SHAPE THEN YED IT COULD BE THE MOTOR NOT ABEL TO SPIN AT THE RIGHT RPM

Grouling noise in the spin cycle

First, check the belt (located in the bottom of the unit) and if it shows signs of wear (black dust) and shiny sides on belt and black marks on the motor, transmission, and water pump pulleys - replace the belt. The motor is spring loaded and acts as the tensioner up to a point of too much wear on the belt.

You will need to tilt the washer about 45 degrees and prop it to keep it from going all the way over (just makes it more difficult to right it later). Pop the belt off by rotating it while pulling the belt off the edge of the transmission (larger) pulley. Again, the motor pulley is spring loaded and will flex appropriately. Reverse the process with installation of a new (exact replacement part number).

If this doesn't fix the problem, you may have to call the Maytag Repairman. They would have replaced the belt anyway and would probably charge $50 + for the belt and installation.
