That's because apple put software protection on their devices. Generally it is not possible to sync an iPod in the media software. iTunes is iPod specific as well. I'm not sure if you have encountered that issue; but a none apple device will not sync in iTunes. Kind of a pain but that's how it goes sometimes. :)

Please can you help I have a white 30G ipod, trying to coonect to laptop running Vista. I have itunes installed and it wont reconize the ipod

You might need a new USB cord. Try launching iTunes before connecting the iPod, and using a different USB port. If that doesn't work, try a different cord ( maybe borrow one )

Trying to add songs from my computer to my ipod using windows media player trying to sync it for music on windows vista well under sync tab it does not reconize the device keeps saying connect a device

iPods connect to your computer via iTunes.
You can download iTunes here free: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
All the music files currently in your Windows Media Player can all be transferred into iTunes, so no worries about losing your music.

Hope that helps.

White scrren on ipod classic but works on itunes

Is your ipod still under warranty?
If so make an appointment at your closest Apple Store and they will replace the iPod for you at no charge.
If it is out of warranty, you may need to replace the LCD.
If you have dropped the ipod the LCD could be damaged and not be cracked.
Try restoring it in Itunes and see if that helps.
If not Replace the LCD and you should be fine.

If this helps please leave a vote on fixya

Ipod wont turn on

It is probably busted. If it's under warranty, call Apple to get it replaced.
