Question about Cuisinart Coffee Makers & Espresso Machines

1 Answer

Water will not pump out of resevoir completely -- the water appears to be getting trapped. It starts to "steam" because the water gets trapped and has nowhere to go so the constant heat on the water forces it out the back vent holes as steam. Only about 1/3 of the water actually ends up in the carafe. And it keeps making the sound it would normally make when it was at the end of the brewing cycle -- that hissing, steaming sound.

Run half a caraffe of vinegar and half a craffe of water just as if it were coffee. You may have to do this up to 3 times. Then run a full caraffe of water to flush out the vinegar. Should be better after that. I would do this once a month as part of regular maintenance on the Cuisinart coffeemakers.

This is similar to my Saeco. i only drink black coffee so the steam function is very rarely used. When i went to use it recently got same as your description. this then set a 'blocked' code on computer which meant NO COFFEE! EEEKKK.
I used an old soft drink bottle as a resevoir to operate the machine with covers off so i could see an issues. I started at the filter , blew that out with compressed air. then hoses...do 1 at a time ...tank to filter, filter to pump, pump to heat exchanger, heat exchanger to spout (watch this one as it is steam!)
after a thorough strip and assemble i descaled and was good to go. now i make sure to use steam at least once a month.

Tip

Saeco, Gaggia, Spidem VENTILATE, Prime what is mean, how to perfrom

Ventilate or priming or else loading all means the filling the machine system full with water, like pump, piping and boiler. This must perform first time of starting up the machine.
It will also appear if the water system in not full of water especially after the steam preparation some steam can be blocked in the system and the machine recognized it by luck in the pressure.
Another reason that ventilate it appears on screen is because air have been insert and blocked in the water system usually from water filter or water softener located in water tank.
So here how you Ventilate or Priming or loading:
Place a container beneath the steam tube.
Turn the knob counter clockwise to start loading the circuit.
Wait until a steady stream of water flows out from the nozzle.
Turn the knob clockwise
to terminate the circuit loading process.
Remove the container. The machine is warming
up; lights are flashing.
Note: You must load the circuit before starting up
the machine for the first time, if it has been inoperative
for a lengthy period or if the water tank has
been completely emptied. The circuit must also be
loaded each time the light flashes

Descaling Single Boiler Home espresso machines (HOME SINGLE BOILER ESPRESSO MACHINES)

Approximately every 3 months (depending on your use and the water hardness), clean the machine with natural citric acid based decalcifying agent.
1. Add a descaling solution into the water reservoir. Mix thoroughly to dissolve (use warm water for better results).
2. Remove the filter holder and place a cup under the group head and another cup, or other container, under the steam wand to catch cleaning solution.
3. Turn espresso machine on, turn coffee pump on and run approximately 8 oz. of solution through the brew head. Turn machine off and let the machine sit for 15 minutes.
4.Run approximately 8 oz. through the steam wand, and again, turn machine off and let sit for 15 minutes.
Repeat by allowing solution to run alternately through the steam wand and brew head. Turn espresso machine off after each cycle. Repeat process until solution has been run through.
5. Do not leave espresso machine on. Do not wait for the ready light to come on. Do not use the steam switch during this process. Do not allow reservoir to run empty!
6. Rinse reservoir thoroughly with fresh water. Refill reservoir with fresh water. Run half a tank of fresh water through group head, alternating between group head and steam wand.

Do you hear the pump working but no water flows?

You should select hot water (the third button from the right) and the display should say "hot water" at the same time it is saying VENTILATE --- open the steam valve all the way and the pump should start and you should see water from the steam wand.

If you don't hear the pump at all, then that is a different problem.

If you do hear the pump but still don't get any water with the steam valve open, then you need to prime the pump by using a turkey baster or the accordian pump that came with the Titanium to pump water into the valve where water from the tank goes. Remove the tank and use the turkey baster to pump water into that valve while the pump is running and the steam valve is open all the way with HOT WATER selected. the second water starts to come out the steam valve you want to stop the pump (turn the power off or turn the steam knob shut) and put the water tank back on and make sure there is plenty of water in the tank - then start the pump again by opening the steam valve all the way and let it pump water out the steam wand for a few minutes.

Solis Palazzo Steam problem

Hi
Sounds like your flow meter is restricted with the usual chip of bean. The flow meter spins when the pump is moving water. There is a small opening in the intake side of the flow meter and this creates a jet of water that spins the flow meter. When the flow meter is spinning the machine is happy, but when the intake gets restricted the water doesn't spin the flow meter and the machine says ventilate. It wants the flow meter to spin and be happy. You could possibly fix it your self if your handy, other wise let the pros do it.

No Coffee comming out?

Check the Pump to make sure you still hear the noise. If the water pump make noise nothing wrong with the pump.If you have hot water opening the steam knob the electro pump will be activate and this mean your pump is working and you problem could be in the boiler. Some times the Boiler get clogged in the little tube between the pump and the boilen entrance.Check also the micro filter in the brewing section.
