No its pluged in. nothing its just on or I'm looking in setting to solve the problem.

  • Vlad Apr 20, 2013

On my battery icon it says: 0% available (plugged in not charging) consider replacing battery. Also when it shuts down the screen turns blue and message says something like pc discovered an error and needs to shut down to avoid permanent damaged if it happening first time just restart your pc.

ok well first your power cord might be bad.so i would go with that first.its cheaper then doing a new battery.but once we know for sure then we can work on the other problem. we have to work on one thing at a time.without the computer staying on there is no way to know if there is a virus or not.also does the laptop seem to be getting really hot if so then yes it might need the fans cleaned so it doesn't over heat.

I THINK ANY VIRUS MAY BE IN YOUR SYSTEM. PLEASE FULL SCAN YOUR COMPUTER THROUGH A GOOD ANTIVIRUS. IF PROBLEM REMAINS SAME THEN YOU HAVE TO CHOOSE FORMAT WINDOW AND THEN REINSTALL WINDOW.

SOURCE: my compaq laptop shuts down

It sounds to me like it is indeed overheating. Make sure all the fans visible from the outside of the case are operating smoothly, and not making any awkward noises. You can take a flashlight to see these easier. With the laptop off, make sure you have any dust cleared out, you an buy an air can for about $5 almost anywhere that sells electronics. Another easy solution for anyone to do, is buy a cooling pad. It will increase the airflow to the computer, and keep most of the case's openings clear.

If you are still having problems, make sure you have any peripheral devices disconnected, as there may be something drawing too much power from the notebook.

Recently our laptop (4yo) shut down unexpectedly after being used for 45min to 1 hour! I was wondering what the issue is? Is there anything which can be done by us? We are out of warranty.

things that happen to older laptops are that over time there tiny processor power supplies build up with lint from the air that is passed thru them sometimes even making the tiny cooling fans in there stop , then its only a matter of a few minutes and it overheats and shuts off , after several hours cool own it will restart , but wont stay on long , then the cycle repeats . if its caught in time and no power supply parts are ruined sometimes a Pc repair shop can dismantle one and clean it

Samsung smh7150 shuts down after a few minutes.

If the mag overheats because its not being cooled it will shut down until its cool.

If the fan is turning slow you can try oiling it but it likely needs replacing.

Another thing that causes this is that the exaust port is blocked because its upagainst the wall and the hot air can not escape.
