Question about GE 27998GE6 Cordless Phone
We have a GE 27998GE6 that my daughter took to her home to use... An outgoing announcement was on the phone by my wife and her mother who passed away 3 years ago, and it is the only recorded sound of her voice we have... She has it doing the default announcement right now (she accidentially got it that way), is the recorded announcement by her mother retrievable from this?
The recorder is a Digital answering system with 14 minutes of message time. That means it MAY still be in memory. If you can use the phone features to play back all messages an ensure it is not available from that menu, then see if you have a greeting menu and can change which greeting plays. IF it remembers it has that greeting, it may play it and ask if you want to use that one. If you are able to access it, you will probably want to record it with a cassette type recorder that does a decent job. If it was extremely important enough to pay a technician to attempt it (it will cost some $$), I'd take it to a good electronics repair shop and ask them if they thought they might be able to recover any voice stored on it.
Good luck and God bless!

Tips for a great answer:
Oct 19, 2011 | GE 27851 Cordless Phone
Recording the Outgoing Announcement
For best results when recording, you should be about nine inches from the microphone,
and eliminate as much background noise as possible.
1. Make sure the answering system is On2. Press and hold the announce button on the base.
3. Begin speaking after you hear the beep.
4. Release the button when you finish your announcement.
NOTE: If you choose not to record an outgoing announcement, a default
announcement plays instead. To return to the default announcement after
you have recorded your own outgoing announcement, press the announce
button and release it when you hear the beep.
Sample Outgoing Announcement
"Hi, this is (use your name here), I can't answer the phone right now, so
please leave your name, number and a brief message after the tone, and
I'll get back to you. Th anks.
