Question about Coby MP-805 Digital Media Player

Can't put videos and pictures on my COBY MP-805

I can't seem to be able to convert MPEG's to avi whith the converter supplied by COBY, it seems like it is converting, but when I whant to transfer it to the player it tells me it's not the right format for my player. Also if I try to sync JPEG's (whith WMP) it tells me the reader is not able to read that format. The only thing that work is MP'3s!!
Did I get a lemon or should I try another converter, if so which one?

Thank's

Martin

Hey, i have a problem with the coby 705 mp4 player, the video converter that came with it doesn't work, i'v gotten other programs that convert to avi , problem i think is that the AVI format is not just...

Make sure you convert to mpeg4 with 220x176 and 30 fps. The conversion software that came with the unit won't allow you to do this. I solved the problem with AVS Video Converter 6. You can get it at www.avs4you.com. Chose "To MPEG" then select "edit" and enter 220 for width and 176 for height. Then enter 30 fps for "frame rate". This should do it. Good luck.

Coby mp610 2g mtv unknown format

Hey try to get the video file you are converting to .mtv to convert to .mov first.I had the same problems until I tried it that way.Someone else somewhere says mpg is a good format that the converter will read well and convert properly.I never tried it though. However I find that .avi files will give you problems. This is because .avi is a container not a format.

Also remember Youtube videos download as flv files and if you use MediaCoder like I do,to convert from flv to .avi you will have problems because the actual format will be Xvid and the container .avi.

fFor the sys err problem..visit the Coby USA website ...there is a firmware fix there. The actual link is on this site in another Coby mp 610 question.

I hope this works...let us know

Unable to convert video

Thanks to ZZAMAMEE I found Kate's Video Converter (free) 4.0 and I was able to use it to convert the video into a format that the video conversion software supplied with the Coby MP-705 was able to recognize. To do the conversion select AVI, then advanced. Next select XviD MPEG-4 Codec for the video compressor, and WMAudio Encoder DMO for the Audio Compressor. Select the Resize Output Target size of 320 X 240 pixels and for Type select Fit to Target size, then apply. This will take you back to the original conversion screen. To select your output directory you need to select Settings, then select the settings option and browse to your output directory. After you select this then select the convert button. At this time you can change the name of the video if you want.

Now you can open Video Converter (the software that came with the Coby player), and use your new video as the input file. Select the output file, and you can also copy it straight to the player by selecting the MP3 Player tab and navigating to your video folder on your player. Hilight the input video name in the list of files in the bottom portion of the program, then select the little cog icon midway down on the right side and set the output file type to AVI, the size to 220 X 176 and select OK. Hit the conversion button and once the conversion is complete and it has copied your files you are done and ready to watch the videos.
