Its a know issue that the siuthbridge chip on the motherboard is ubject to lots of problems... Acer are aware of the prblem. this issue is down to using cheap chips and poor soldering. unfortunatley the only way to fix this is to get a new motherboard.. or sent it to acer.. i have fixed many of these by replacing the board.. costs £150 for new board + fitting...

CD ROM DRIVER

Optical drives (cd/dvd) for the most part don't requires drivers in the sense other hardware does. That's why they work during boot.

Make sure it has power (ejects). Check Device Manager in Safe Mode by pressing F8 during boot. Right click My Computer > Manage. Select Device Manager > View > Show Hidden Devices. Now delete all DVD/CD-ROMs and reboot. Windows will say "New Hardware Found" and install. Check BIOS by pressing F key (correct F key is noted during boot) and make sure BIOS see's the Optical Drive.

Bios does not see cd-rom but dos does, can't boot cd

Sounds like a hardware issue. Try downloading UBUNTU as an alternative to Windows. If you still need windows Install virtual box for UBUNTU and run it that way.

Virtual Box: https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Linux_Downloads

You probably have tried holding "F12" during bootup. This will give you the option to start from the CD.

If you suspect it's a BIOS issue try flashing the BIOS. You can do this by going to the PC manufacturer website and searching for support- Drivers and downloads.

If your BIOS supports USB boot you can try to update the BIOS that way. Then going back and configuring it for CD boot.

You can also try to create an ISO image of Windows and install it via USB.
