Check you firewalls. Sometimes you will have to allow certain mac addresses or certain ip addresses (may be less secure than the mac address), then change sharing level to full, before things begin to work.

Please post back and let me know if this helps!

Tip

Installation CD for the print server

If you are having trouble going through the setup process on the installation cd do the following:

  1. Disable any encryption settings on your wireless router.
  2. Disable MAC filtering.
If these features are enabled during the installation setup process, the wireless features will not work unless you go into the admin settings of the print server by typing the IP address into internet explorer. Type in the correct encryption settings.

Linksys has a provision in the setup software to key in the correct encryption however the software doesn't put the information in properly. This will cause the wireless not to work and allow the print server to work only when it is wired to the network.

Encryption settings have to be entered through the administration settings of the router by typing in the IP address of the print server using internet explorer.

Unable to print in windows7 it connects put it in q but don't print

Check you print driver, see if you can print when the printer is attached directly to the computer USB. If you can, then try it through the print server again, but instead of reinstalling just change the port under the ports section of the print properties to the IP of the print server. Should work fine.

My wGPS606 wont print on my Windows Vista laptop!

I just found a way to enable the HP P1006 with a different print server (Liveprint on Orange Livebox router). Perhaps this might work with the WGPS606 wireless print server?

I set up the P1006 via the print server as instructed (I'm using Vista 32 Home Premium) but no test page would print.

BUT!! (with thanks to another another forum):

I selected printers, then right-clicked on the wireless printer I'd just installed and selected 'properties'.

Under the 'Ports' tab I deselected 'Enable bidirectional support'.

Problem solved.

Hope this helps.

let me inform you that this printer is not compatible with any wireless print server. The drawback is that it is not possible to network such printers. A printer needs a steady flow of data, which is easily accomplished when it is connected directly to a PC, but cannot be guaranteed when the printer is connected via a LAN. Also, these technologies require intensive handshaking between the driver and the printer.
The host-based software uses the computer's resources to process print commands and rasterizing data, taking advantage of the computer's memory and processing power."

Sorry I can't be more upbeat - but its probably useful to know that someone at HP thinks the job's imposible - unless someone out there has a fix?

Try installing a lower end printer to the same port. For example HP LaserJet 3.

0.Follow the manual instructions to configure the Printer Server (tpc/ip), connection toyour local wireless LAN, etc. then, specific for Vista: 1.Vista Start Button 2.Control Panel 3.Printer 4.Add New Printer 5.Select Local Printer 6.Click on "Create new Local Port" and from the menu "Standard TCP/IP Port" 7.Click on "Next" button 8.Menu "Type" select TCP/IP and write the IP address of your Printer Server. UNSELECT "detect printer to..." then press "Next" button 9.If everithing is fine, it must find your printer server. 10.Select your driver ... that's it .... unfortunately I found some problems printing documents: it works till half page then the printer stop and I must cancel manually from the printer the job in order to reset the printer itself.... looking for solutions

Unable to setup wireless print server with wireless router

The issue was the wireless print server not properly connecting to my home network and thus being unable to see my modem/network. This was because my linksys wireless print server generates its wep key with a different algorithm than the Motorola surfboard SBG900, this also explains why when I was using my old linksys wireless g router, things worked without any issue (same wep key algorithm). Once I figured out how to manually configure the print servers wireless settings and manually enter the wep security settings I was able to connect to my network and the configuration found the print server and I was able to finish setup.

Connecting this print server

Without knowing more information, I can't give you exact instructions...however, in order to make the print server truly functional, it needs a dedicated IP address. Look through the settings on the print server interface (GUI) and see if you can assign it a local IP address (192.168.xxx.xxx, depending on your LAN setup).

Once you give it a dedicated IP address, you should be able to route print jobs through it.

Hope this helps - remember to rate :)

Re-set of wireless g print server

With this print server not all printer are compatible with it, but if you connect same model of printer that was also working with this print server, best thing to do here again is to reset the router and reconfigure it back using the setup CD that came with it and if still the same problem, it will be better to call Linksys tech support so they can check if your printer is compatible with this print server if its compatible let one of the Linksys tech walk you through with the process, they are open 24/7 this is the number 800-3267114....

Hope that helps...........
