Sd card won't click into place on my Nikon d60

My brand new Nikon D60 camera refuses to hold onto an SD card that I insert. It mwas working fine this morning, I removed the card to transfer pictures to my laptop and when I tried to re insert the card it refused to click into place and just pops out again. If I hold it in place with my finger the camera will read it but as soon as I move my finger it pops back out.

Check your SD card, there may be a piece of it missing. Did the same to my camera and looking into the card holder, there was a piece of SD card lying at th bottom! (I used a needle to dislodge it!)

Same happened to my D5200. Like other users, after reading the post I shone a flashlight in there and sure enough was a 1/4" long blue sliver. Holding the camera with the SD slot facing downward, I reached in with a twist-tie and was able to lodge the piece out of the slot. Everythings works fine now. Thanks!

D60 has SD card full message but the SD card is brand new and formatted.

Have you tried using it in another device that reads/writes SD cards?
It's possible it is a counterfeit SD card. Some counterfeit cards don't work or are not the true capacity. If it it a name brand like SanDisk it will have a serial number. The counterfeit ones typically don't have serial numbers.

My sd card won't stay in place, it just pops back out.

It sounds like the latching mechanism is broken. Phone Nikon's service department at 1-800-NIKON-US (1-800-645-6687) between 9AM-8PM EST, Monday to Friday and they will be able to get you a quote on the repair.

D60 error press shutter release button

Here's what I found on the Nikon forum and it also works for D60 Digital Camera.
Get a very small cross head screwdriver (watchmaker size)
A can of WD40
Sticky tape
A good light

Remove the Battery and SD card
Open up the bottom of the D40x putting the small screws onto the sticky tape in order of removal.

You know the camera well, so you know where all the screws go.
Remove the metal plate (used for the tripod mount, you will need to remove the back of the D40x as well, it's only 2 screws)

Now look at John C Ayr's pic of the D40xwww.flickr.com/photos/johncayr/3969534234/

Spray a SMALL amount of WD40 onto the red and white gear wheels.
(Don't use so much that it drips down onto the optics, you don't want oil in there!!!)

Put the battery in and hold it down to make contact, put in the sd card and switch on the camera and try the shutter button. (switch it to manual focus or it might try hunting around for ages for focus)

It might start working, if not move the red wheel a few stops and try again.

Once it's lubed up and the wheels move it should be ok.
Keep taking pics until you feel it is ok.

Then reassemble following the screws backwards on the sticky tape.

I have a Nikon D60 that will take photos and works fine with the exception of uploading pictures. When i plug it in the light on the camera blinks speedily and my computer wont recognize the camera.

The camera has to be turned on and in the review mode. You can also try using just the SD card. If your computer doesn't have a slot for the card, you can buy a card reader (sort of an adapter) that will hold the card and plug into a USB port for less than twenty dollars.

Nikon d60 - error. turn camera off and on again.

Locate the button behind the shutter release button with the green dot next to it. Locate the button at the back lower hand side of the D60 with the green dot next to it. Press both buttons at the same time.........This resets the D60 to its original settings and should resolve the problem.....

D60 won't turn on

Nikon told me to remove battery, remove SD card, remove lens and then hold the shutter button down for 30 seconds. If the Also sometimes the contact between the lens and body is not quite perfect and removing and replacing the lens hleps. If not it has a 1 year warranty, return to them with the exact error message (even if the problem is just intermittant) and they can usually find and fix the problem if the above things do not do the trick.
