O want to install a new key . What are the steps ,please

A key falling off of a keyboard might be an annoyance, but it is not a reason to buy a new keyboard. Regardless of which key falls off, it can be replaced fairly easily. Although the method of replacing typical letter keys is a little different than replacing the space bar, replacing either of these types of keys can be done in a few minutes.

Carefully pry the key from the keyboard next to the key that has fallen off. This key can easily be pried by sliding a flat-head screwdriver underneath it and popping the key out. Be careful to make sure the key retainer underneath the key stays in place, especially if the key retainer has also fallen off the key you are attempting to fix. Look closely at the key retainer underneath the key that was just removed. Notice there is a notch in each corner of the key designed to hold the key in place. Place the key retainer back into place if it has fallen off the key you are trying to fix. Make sure it is positioned exactly as the key retainer next to it is. Put the key on top of the key retainer. Use your index finger to firmly push straight down on the key to lock the key back into place. Do the same to the key that was taken off to view the other key retainer. b> Replacing the Space Bar b> Turn the space bar upside down and use a flat-head screwdriver to separate the retainer from the back of the space bar key. Place the retainer into its place on the keyboard. The retainer will hook into small hooks on the left and right sides. The small metal bar from the retainer should line the bottom of the area where the space bar will be placed. Put the space bar back into the place where it belongs. Spread the ring finger, middle finger and index finger across the space bar, and push firmly until the key snaps into place. Put the space bar key back in place and gently press on it with fingers until it snaps back in place.

Had a #2 key fall out complely including the cap,now I want to know how to replace it ( I have the new key complete, hinge and all that stuff) but i don't know how to replace and install it please show me...

Set aside the key and retainer that have fallen off. If you lost the key, retainer, or both, you will have to order a replacement from the computer's manufacturer. As an alternate, you may be able to get a replacement from someone who has a non-working laptop of the same model as your own.Carefully pop off another key from your laptop. Choose one that you don't use frequently, and remove it with care so its retainer stays in the proper place. You will be using it as a model for your repair.

Note how the exposed retainer is connected to the keyboard. It will probably be connected at four separate points. This may vary, based on the make and model of your specific laptop. Study it until you feel confident replacing the retainer in the correct manner. Replace the retainer that popped off your laptop. Once you have it secured in place, pop the missing key onto it. The key should snap firmly into place onto the retainer. Replace the key cap on the retainer that you used as your model. Like the other key, it should snap firmly into place, and both keys should now be ready for use.

Loose shift key....any advice on fixing it?

O.k. first the key. Most likely the retainer has come loose. Take the key off and check the if the retainer is broken, if so, then you will need to contact Compaq support for a new one. If it's not broken, take the key off the retainer, put the retainer back on the board, and place the key in it's general position and press. It will snap into place. If you can't figure out how they retainer fits, then take another key off, be careful to just remove the key leaving the retainer. This will give you a view of how the retainer goes on the board.

Now for the sound. You must do this in order to get the sound working with XP:

This model of Presario has an audio controller that supports
the high definition audio. You need to have Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) bus driver for high definition audio installed on the computer before installing the audio driver.
Here is the link for the Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture driver that need to be installed before installing the audio driver:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/sof...4000/sp33867.exe ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp33501-34000/sp33867.exe
After installing the UAA driver from the above links you have
to restart the notebook and then install Conexant high definition
audio driver from the following link :
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/sof...4500/sp34200.exe ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp34001-34500/sp34200.exe
Installing the audio drivers may result in an error, but continue
with the following steps to get the audio driver installed correctly.
1. Click on Start and select Run. Now type devmgmt.msc and press enter.
2. Right click on "audio device on high definition audio bus" and click update driver.
3. Select "install from a list or specific location"
4. Click next. Then select "don't search, I will choose the driver to install"
5. Click next and then select "sound, video and game controller" from the list.
6. Click next and then click have disk.
7. Click browse C:swsetupsp34200 folder and select the .inf file and click open and continue with the on screen instructions.
