Orecks do have a lot of leaks in the airdut system of their machines. Most likely the smell however, is coming from the outer bag itself. That get so coated with fine dust that eventually it will start to smell like dust. Only by replacing the outer bag can you solve this problem.

If this thing has a fast-spinning belt in the "head" of the unit, you are smelling the dust that is being collected in the back of the little drive "chamber" and is being heated up by the motor and the friction of the belt. This is a pretty common thing on vacuum cleaners designed like the Oreck. If it is huge bunnies of dust, well then that means there is a leak somewhere...

I have a kenmore intuition with power flow. I just put a new bag in it and the check bag light keeps coming on. After running it for about a minute it makes a terrible sound. How do I fix it?

Try removing and cleaning (or replacing) any filters. Check that there is nothing that is restricting the suction flow by making sure that hoses and inlet and outlet to the dust collection area (in your case the bag) are all clear. Basically for a vacuum cleaner to work at it's optimum, air needs to be drawn through the system and ejected with the least amount of restriction as possible. Obviously exhaust filters are needed so only clean air is ejected and pipes need to be clear to pick up the dirt and these do block over time. One of the biggest culprits for blocking are products like Shake 'n Vac as very fine particulates can pass through bags, that is why filters are used.

Bag needed changing there was no burn ing smell or strange noises before i changed bag after bag was changed it wouldnt start. the cord is new no fraying and vac is about 5 years old. didn

I'm not real experienced with this model vac, but I do know that many of the newer vac's are being manufactured with a small button or lever, whatever the particular brand of vac decides would best fit on their unit, that would be located somewhere around the edge of the bag door opening and would need to be depressed by having a bag inside in order for the machine to run. I would check for something of this nature to be sure that during the bag change that you didn't just miss putting it in quite right to depress the go button. Other than that, it's entirely possible that the switch died. If that's the case you'll need to bring it in to a vac repair shop for help.

The motor still works but it doesn't collect the dust

did you check all hoses to see if they are clogged? there is a spot at the bottom of the vac where it sucks the dirt/dust into the bag. if there is anything clogged in the hoses it will not allow suction. plus you may want to check the filter if your vac has 1.

wiggle the cord while running the vac. if it cuts off from that, then you most likely have a bad switch or cord. if the motor was bad, you would smell it. it smells aweful.

Clogged sweeper filters changed and hose cleaned, but no dirt collecting in the bag. I am no sure what do do next

You have a rubber flap in the dust collection bin that may have been pulled out causing the collection bin to close when vacuum tries to pass through. Try pushing the flap back in to see if that's the cause of your vacuum loss. To test if this is the cause try turning the cleaner on and feel the outlet leading into the removable bin to see if there is any air flow. If there is no air flow, unplug the vac and run a coat hanger through the inlet tube to find and clear any obstructions. Then take the vacuum outdoors, plug it in and turn it on to clear any dust or debris left in the vacuum chamber.

Electrolux Model 2100 vacuum won't work

hi from uk may i suggest you remove cover and the new dust collection bag then if you look in the bag compartment there is a gauze filter fitted usually grey in colour ? at opposite end of compartment where bag connects this gauze filter is the outlet from bag compartment that the air exhales when vac is operating ie as vac **** up dust into bag the bag has microscopic holes that allow sucked up air and dust to collect but keeps dust from passing into bag chamber but allows air to escape thro holes and so enter bag chamber then escapes via the gauze filter to outside of vac hope you follow this ?? now if this filter is blocked/never been cleaned/changed ? then the symptoms of indicator bag full light will come on you can remove and wash filter if it is gauze typ? dry and refit then try vacuuming ? or replace filter they are not expensive usually in pack of 3 in uk DO NOT RUN VAC WITHOUT THIS FILTER FITTED ! or you will have some dust in the room ? hope this helps?

Seems to have proper suction but dirt is not reaching the bag? I have checked all the hoses and there is no blockage.

There may be a blockage on the inside of the vac. I have had this happen to me a couple of times. The first thing I try to do is to make sure the beater brush is turning. If it isn't turning the dirt will not go into the bag. The other thing to do is to take a shop vac or something similar with high suction and see if you can suction out your hose. There may be something so high up in it that you can't see it. The last thing I would try is to take apart the inside where the hose connects to the bag and make sure that nothing is up in there. Try the shop vac first....this has always worked for me.
Good luck.

My Vacuum cleaner smells bad. What can I do to stop that?

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Depending on the brand name and model # you should do a few things, try changing the bag and or change or clean the filter depending on what type of vacuum you have, a dirt cup model or a bag system. The vacuum cleaner dealers have Vacuum crystals that can be sprinkled down on the carpet and then you can pup the crystals from the carpet with your vacuum. If not I suggest that you take it in for a good and general cleaning – a lot of times the dirt and dust get built up under the hood and just sits there – especially if you have pets and it is a hard smell to get rid of unless you have it serviced or cleaned. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Thanks, Don the Vac Man

I buy loads of Hoovers and always same problem. When I Hoover its a dusty smell and it stays around bag not full and check filter the Hoover is ok f couple days then this happens.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Hoover F5881-900 Vacuum. It sounds to me that if you have a clean bag and filter, it sounds like you have dust in the motor section and it needs to be cleaned and or take a good blower and blow out the dirt or you may have a clog or dirt build up in the suction line and that might be causing the dusty smell. Please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or call the Hoover factory and ask for tech support. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.
