Oil mixture for 1985f series 2 cycle lawn-boy mower

Contact your dealer ! but 32:1 sounds correct. 8 ounces of Lawnboy oil to two gallons of gasoline 32:1, 8 ounces of oil to one gallon of fuel is 16:1 for the real old lawnboys,
When Toro bought out OMC,and started using Tecumseh mowers, the ratio changed in the late 80's or early nineties ! IIRC :o)

Hi - I have a really old very basic lawnboy - Says it requires 1/2 pint lawn boy lubricant per 2 gallons of gas!! Or 1/2 pint regular oil per gallon. Cannot find lawnboy lubricant, so which kind of...

You need to use a quality 2-Stroke oil in the fuel mix. Do not use engine motor oil. They sell the small (like 2.6 oz) bottles of 2 stroke oil at the Home Depot and Lowes garden centers. Small lawnmower repair shops have it also. It may say Echo or Homelite or even a store brand on the little bottle, but please, again, don't use oil that you use in the engine of your car....use 2-stroke only.

I have an old lawnboy i need engine diagram

If you cant find one, I would suggest that you use a digital camera and take pictures during the disassembly. Then when you put it back together, just look at your pictures. Good luck...Lee

My lawn mower starts, runs for about 5 seconds and then dies. I need to prime it in order for it to start. It will keep running if I continually keep priming it. I have bought new gasoline, changed the oil...

The engine is starving for fuel, that is why it will keep running while you force the fuel to the engine with the primer button. At this point, the carb will have to be removed, disassembled and cleaned. I'm sure you will find blockage and dirt in the carb and also in the small orifices for air and fuel flow.

My lawnboy 10304 runs about one minute and shuts down. Any ideas?

It sounds like it is 2 stroke.
Carefully remove the carb bowl, by undoing the brass bolt.
Examine the brass bolt for a small pin-hole in the side.
Use a piece of corn-broom NEVER anything else !!! and poke the hole(S) to make sure they are clear.
Blow out with air if available.
You can use this method to clean out all the carb orifices carefully.

Hope it helps,

What is the 2 cycle oil to gas mixture for a 2 cycle lawnboy

20:1 gas to oil is a good place to start. Some mowers thin down to 80:1. If you can tell me the model of the mower I can be more specific, but starting at 20:1 will assure you have adequate protection for the engine. If it's exhausting lots of oil smoke after it has warmed up; you can cut back a little each time until you have minor oil smoke.

at 20:1 you need to add 6.4 ounces of oil to one gallon of gas.

Here's a nifty calculator for various ratios:

Enter 1 gallon of gas, then change the ratio number and then press calculate and the number of ounces per gallon will be displayed.
